Isn’t that owned by one of the companies that keeps lobbying against proposed bills that stop people from having to pay to submit their taxes?

"It's time to record your income. Did you make any tips this year?" Ominous action music starts playing. You see a health box in the corner. "Would you like to save your progress?" The prompt reads. You click yes, knowing the next 15 minutes will be a soul-wringing battle.

I finally said fuck turbotax last year and tried Freetaxusa. Who knows if they'll stay good, but I checked it side by side against TT and they had all the same features and tax checkboxes to go through, and I wanna say state+federal was under $10-15. Intuit is beyond a rip off

There is a plot !?!

The plot is to save money and sell you additional services

- time to file your state return. Don’t put it in a mailbox. We’ll do it right now for $25
- ohh .. your tax return may get audited. Buy audit protection from us now for $99.99.. but do it before you file!
- idk .. any more more than 1 stock trade is getting complicated. Upgrade to our premier version right now for $69.99
- Still have questions. Our customer service is just for SW problems, not for any tax questions

Also we will use part of your money to lobby against anyone simplifying the tax system, so you'll keep needing our product forever.

I just love those Amazon reviews. Product broken, could never work, clearly a fraud, 2 stars.
