The biggest problem is that some people/companies use excel when they should be looking into leveraging a dedicated database.
The other problem is developers don't program for efficiency because they don't have time and that's more of a company planning thing.

The Saturn V LVDC actually had 32kw of memory, not 4kB. In that computer, each word was 26b long, so a grand total of what we would today think of as ~100kB of LOL memory (Little Old Lady memory; it was literally threaded together by grandmothers )

Possibly the best thing that could happen in tech today is for hardware innovation to magically be put on hold for 10 years. Without constantly having new hardware that is capable of covering up rushed coding by brute power, people would be able to optimize their code to actually make it efficient. This would result in the same hardware being able to do more instead of needing more powerful hardware to do more. Power consumption would drop too so battery life would improve.

Being fair, windows used to let you delete critical system files and the preferences were "power on/off" and "what flavor of ding fo you want for your system popups".

I developed a tool. that keeps whatevere you are focused at with a slightly ghier CPU priority class. because i had CPU heavy project running for weeks and wanted to game as well. recovered 75% of the lost FPS in the game.
I also fixed CPU performande issues for Multicore CPU with SMT which some games gains 20% FPS from. AND a work around for AMD CCX design and Intels E core design.
So yeah cpu thread schedules could use improvements

Agreed. Windows is fine for most people because they are just checking emails, paying bills, streaming shows. While they are extremely inefficient, almost criminally, they do get the job done for most needs.
It's also very user friendly and requires no low-level understanding of computer hardware and software. Other OS require at least some low-level knowledge to be effective. Linux distros for lifetime windows users can be outright unusable.

I'll always choose Linux over Windows (Mint being my OS of choice). But work with companies and clients who are all Windows. If you know what you're doing with the registry editor, you can trim a lot of the bloat that comes preloaded with the Windows OS.

The registry allows (power) users to modify settings. Not to modify the operating-system:
Win11 (NT10.0) suffers from hardly usable settings, a file-browser which makes it hard to find the home-directory (easy in NT4.0) and an awkward desktop metaphor. And it is uncontrollable with enforced auto-updates, cloud-accounts and copilot.
In computing decisions are made quickly. And persist long due to vendor lock-in. Working around the problems doesn’t work. We shall offer better options to users.

People buy lots of RAM to get the most performance, Windows uses that RAM as a cache to improve performance, and then the users complain "why is Windows using my RAM? >:( No! I want my RAM to sit there, empty and unused! I want Windows to load every little thing directly from my hard drive every single time!"

It caches stuff in unused RAM and flushes that stuff when that RAM is needed for something more important! Because guess what! There is >no< point in letting unused RAM sit empty. It's literally what RAM is for.

Management doesn't understand that when you need your latest and greatest tech systems to run a programme originally written for 3.1 that was fully abandonware by Win95, *you are the problem*, not the OS you demand make that work.
