I wish they would take hotels and convert them into homeless shelters. Private rooms, access to power, keyed entry any time of day or night, breakfast, gym, pool, front desk to help with issues, etc. A lot cheaper than anti-homeless architecture and design.

Going from having to not having also sucks bad. But this comes out more positive because their suffering has lessened. Having to leave my own apartment because of predatory landlords and their scams, and then having to share everything but a bed... It's really lame.

Wish people like this would post their city. I would offer my wife and I to help get the basics to start feeling like a home. Sheets, bathroom stuff, towels, plates, cooking stuff, basic fridge stuff. Basically like setting up a college student about to move out of the house.

It also means you have an actual, usable address. Without a physical address (that you know you will be able to access for the foreseeable future), registering for things like an ID card, government assistance, job applications etc becomes so much harder, if not impossible.

I am homeless for 2 years now. I am 41. Well, I live in my dads apartment in a single room. I gave up on privacy because he doesnt know what that is. Never knocks. Its a psychological hell-hole to crawl out of. And it is getting worse day by day. I just lost my job. Now I just wait for the heartattack or whatever will be my faith. I gave up, I am tired of fighting for a normal life.

It makes it possible to do anything. Without that you're in survival mode, unable to focus on anything except avoiding trench foot.
Also, unsheltered people are a massive burden on the taxpayer, it would be much cheaper to house them, but no.

the best part is even if you give everyone a section 8 house that is just a small apperment whit a fully functional Kitchenette, 1-2 desk, a bathroom and all that. And you could live there 99.9% of peaple would still try and get a job or something so that they can move out and stand on there own two feet. Even if in the end they move into a apperment they pays there own rent on that is exactly the same layout and size as the section 8 (presuming its actually livable and not a walk in wardrobe)

The funny thing is, even if the screenshot's creator is correct that wherever they're reposting these would impose some sort of consequence on them for saying "bathroom" or "homeless", the way they've done it doesn't even fool simple OCR. If they're right that these needed to be censored, this doesn't actually protect them. And if they're wrong, they're vandalizing others' communication when no one even asked them to. Every possible outcome is pointless.

Except on those platforms, you aren't allowed to use those words. Using those words gets your stuff buried if you're lucky, or it'll get you banned if you aren't. We don't need the government to restrict speech when the corporations will happily do it for them.

Most social media, but this seems to be a reddit post, so likely that one. There are certain buzzwords that are just looked down upon because they come with negative connotations. We see this as a success story, but the bot only sees the word "homeless." Being homeless is bad, and the bot can't understand the context of the story; all it knows is that it was programmed to flag posts with certain words, and have those posts removed. Thus the prevalence of weird censorship or words like "unalive."

It's a screenshot of a Reddit post. The text itself on Reddit itself doesn't look like it was censored; it's been drawn over in the screenshot. I do understand your explanation, but it seems a bit of a stretch to assume that the image's poster factually knew that the site in question runs OCR or inferrence AND sentiment analysis on all uploaded images, that said OCR is JUST shitty enough to not be able to read lightly scribbled-on letters, AND that these particular terms are flagged.

It seems likelier to me that they were operating on a blind guess about what the site *might* do. It's not exactly a matter of deep importance, but it makes me sad to see people stooping so low as to take corpos' censorship even further than the corpos themselves have, especially when they're censoring someone else's words and story (unless this was by some wild chance being reposted by the original creator, which would be a mitigating factor).
