I had purchased a dashcam and I received it on Thursday and installed it Thursday night. This video was captured the very next day. Thankfully there were no injuries.

Glafd you are ok OP, what an asshole. That was a "he's not going to is he.. of fuck he did." Deserves a hefty ticket for that.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Looks like it was just in time to me. Glad you're ok @OP.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Bloody idiot, they're cutting across two lanes!! Glad you're okay.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

*And* through work cones. F'n moron all around.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Good timing.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What an asshole.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

This kind of shit happens every day in Atlanta.... people here suck so bad at driving you have to expect for people to drive like morons

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's Fucking Georgia. What did you expect, angels on the highway?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude your reaction time is dreadful.

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

Haha right. Not his fault but living in Vancouver he would get roasted daily by idiots.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"Oh no, missed my exit! Better merge like a fucking idiot to save the time it'd take to turn around. What's the worst that could happen?"

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So what you're saying is dashcams cause accidents.. suspicious...

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's the way of the universe

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Almost surprised you couldn't hammer on the brakes hard enough. It felt like you had lots of notice.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Ok I thought I was the only one that noticed I seen the guy start merging a while ago... I wonder if he was distracted

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fuck you people that drive like you own the road. You know who you are and I hope you have a lousy day.

5 years ago | Likes 353 Dislikes 4

I had a lousy day and now I'm questioning my driving.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just hope they lose their license.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

unlikely... If repeat Drunk drivers can keep or get their licenses again then bad drivers wont have any problem

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My one uncle drove big rigs for a living his motto was "we are bigger thus we own the road" and you couldn't tell him he's wrong

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

There's right of way and right of size. If you don't have right of way yet are plenty bigger, most people won't risk running into you.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If i have the right away I'm going idgaf, if i die i die

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I had pretty much the exact same happen with a truck last week, fucker literally cut across in front of 3 cars. I managed to brake.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

These trucks in Alberta, they are the plague of the road. 'I weigh 5 tonnes so fuck you and the rules'.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are definitely people out there that drive like that but in this case I think the guy just had a lapse of judgment.

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 5

more like fucking moron, but good on you for taking it cool

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lapse of judgement, yeah we all have it. Go a mile to the next exit then and don't drive like a goblin

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Probably confused by all the barrels and didn't think it through. Good thing you had that dash cam!I should get one

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Even in this case I think the dashcam wouldn't have been needed but it definitely makes it 100% obvious

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm thinking either he looked back before I had exited or because my car is lowered and black he didn't see me on the off ramp at all

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You’re headlights were on, yes? Then he paid no attention and just panicked.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That doesn't sound like a good excuse, your headlights appear totally bright enough.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I hope insurance gets him for all he's worth. Bad judgement or not, that was a fuck-up.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got in an accident and pulled to the side of the road and turned off my car. no dash cam video because my cam was powered off with the car

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It didn’t save the video it was in process of recording because I powered down.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a cheap Wish dashcam with no sd-card storage.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is terrible! Most of the dashcams now have a small battery to prevent that but I can totally see it happening

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I use a Viofo dash cam with a Cellink Neo battery pack that allows parking mode recording. It will not turn off when the car is off.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A good driver sometimes misses their exit. A bad driver never misses their exit.

5 years ago | Likes 964 Dislikes 3

A good driver never misses their exit. Unless you are somewhere new and don't have a GPS on, you're slow if you miss your exit. so much time

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 13

Mistakes happen. Nobody is perfect. If you're a good driver and haven't ever missed your exit, you haven't been driving for very long.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

nah. I've missed exits when I was a newbie and didn't know how much time I had a mile from my exit. Not anymore. built different I guess :)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Lmao that is one of the best sayings I've ever heard especially true in Michigan

5 years ago | Likes 165 Dislikes 0

My uncle in law drove the wrong way on the highway to get back to the exit. Luckily I was in the other car...couldn't believe he did that...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The GPS will even reroute you to get you back on track. So yea, really no big deal with missing an exit nowadays.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This. Unless you’re the type that wont take direction

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If I have to cross an unmarked section of road, I'm not doing it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right?! I had some idiot trying to pass a few cars during congestion using the turn only suddenly realize it was an exit and almost hit me.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It had to be a hair away from a collision. And it's legal to u-turn here. They could get right back on the highway, losing maybe 20-30s.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A good driver who misses their exit goes to the next exit to turn around

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But that was so much more expensive than just going to the next exit & turning around. My mechanic has boat payments to make!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did this just a week ago. Realized at the last second I missed the exit. Felt stupid but 2 extra miles is better than a collision.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Hey I'm a bad driver AND I miss my exit all the time

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Thought I was the only one who goes to the next exit if I miss my current one. Easier to double back over some evasive maneuver.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

There are dozens of us!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DOZENS

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

there was this thing years ago I saw that equated it to selfishness. A selfish driver tries to make their exit, the non selfish driver waits

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah, selfish drivers expects others to fix their mistakes

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good driver: oh no, I missed my exit. I'll get off at the next one and backtrack. Bad driver: oh no I missed my exit. I'll swerve across 3

5 years ago | Likes 102 Dislikes 0

In MD a few weeks ago, on 29, I was taking an exit, and some SUV was backing up PAST THE EXIT. Like I stopped, and they continued backwards>

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

on the shoulder, it was just kind of incredulous, and really wish a cop saw that (they were still going way past the exit idk to where >

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it was probably another 0.5 miles til the next exit, on a friggin 3 lane highway)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The DMV is a dangerous place to drive. I lived in nova for 20 years, so glad I got out of that area

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lanes and expect everyone else to accommodate me.

5 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Exactly.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"good luck everybody!"

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

This. If you miss your exit - keep driving and take a new route. Don't do some BS- last-second-merge like this person.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Noooooo. Aspec down?. Maybe you can get the new type S now?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If they total it I'm between the same exact car and spec or a Q50 Red Sport 400

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Have you looked at a Tesla at all? 8 built in dash cams and safest cars ever built. 10/10 would recommend

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus AEB would've avoided this accident altogether, just saying. Really worth looking into

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Q50 red sport is way quicker than the TLX but I like the way the TLX looks

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Agreed, I test drove a Q50 and the interior is just so dated.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuuuuck some drivers are bloody reckless. Glad you're ok and have proof that Swervy McDickbeans was at fault.

5 years ago | Likes 2319 Dislikes 2

That is a great term...stealing it!

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

"Yo, what the fuck bro, why'd you hit me?" - Swervy McDickbeans, I bet

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Good pornstar name

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Even without the dash cam, the angles of impact and Location of damage would be pretty difficult to defend for the other guy.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Also the fact that he couldn't have possibly been coming from anywhere other than the blocked off part of the road

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Y'know I was going to go between some blocked road I'd be extra careful and looking around...but guess with that level of logic I wouldn't

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I am 100% using dickbeans henceforth.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

McBeansizeddick

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Sorry, but it's Michigan, so it's no ones fault! Gotta love "No Fault law".

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Swervy McDickbeans?! I actually LOL’d

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuuuuck indeed. I didnt even notice it until the car was right in front of him.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Maybe use your brake when you see a danger ?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

While it was completely the other driver's fault, the accident could have been prevented if he went a little slower. Drive safely out there

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 62

You must be the brother, Slowy McDickbeans

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

You go with the flow of traffic. You're LESS safe if you creep along just on the off chance that someone does something stupid.

5 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 3

Yes, go at least the speed limit and follow the flow. Idiots "going slow for safety" cause slowdowns, dangerous situations and accidents.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Mrdickbeans, haha!

5 years ago | Likes 192 Dislikes 5

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I reeeaaallly didn't want him and "dick" in the same thought

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mr. Bean got so much tail that he shrugged off crashing his McLaren.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you sure that's not because he sold it for £8m ($12.2m)?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice try.

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

It’s Van, not Mc. I hate people that are intolerant of other cultures.

5 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 4

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And the Dutch

5 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

'Van' is used in a lot of Dutch last names

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fuck the dutch

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

It's an Austin Powers reference.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Actually, you were speeding in a work zone

5 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 11

Yup if the other guys insurance sees that dash cam video it might remove some liability from the other guy.

If it's determined by the insurance companies you're partially at fault it could still affect your rates.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'll leave it up to them to determine the accuracy of my dashcams speed sensor lol

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I dont understand what this is in response to...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 21

The dashcam recorded your speed at about 94kmh (58 mph), & you just passed a posted 45mph sign. You may have been able to stop at 45 mph

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

Also, I think the speed may be delayed a bit

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 22

Time to crop some video! ;)

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

100% other guy's fault. However, you were going almost 15 over in a construction zone on the interstate, had you been going thr posted (1/2)

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Speed limit you would've had time to brake properly to avoid collision. His fault but you were also negligent.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah pretty sure you weren't still going 78 after creaming a car and coming to a stop lmao

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Lol come to Detroit and drive the posted speed limit

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 35

I’m in agreement w/ you, but knowing how insurance companies are,it’s good to know that this could be mentioned.it will do prepare you.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Don’t know why there’s a link there. Don’t mind that.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hope you are ready to make that claim before a judge, and fight it in court.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Also you seem to brake very late. I myself didn't see him coming until he was right in front of you. Fuckers lights blended with the cones.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I honestly didn't see him until he was at my window. I don't text and drive and I knew where I was at. I was alert.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm just saying think about why did you react so late. If you were on your phone or someshit they will try to pin at least some of the blame

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The guy is a tool without a doubt but I don't know how you could not see him coming over. I guess I just expect people pull these stunts.

5 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

Same.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The blinker is 10x more obvious to human eyes at that. The camera exposure hides how obvious it is. Both bad drivers.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Honestly I didn't see him either until it was way too late. He blended with the cones. Granted I'm watching a recording and not there.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Plus, a defensive driver watches merge areas (especially in construction zones, because drivers are unfamiliar) for exactly this. Avoidable—

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

—collision on the part of both drivers, really.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I get that the FOV on dash cams is wider, but that’s exactly why you WATCH the merge area.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

dashcam is no excuse for lack of diligence and defensive driving

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 7

Yup. Always create space for yourself and be alert. Expect everyone to be an idiot on the road. This particular case, not much you can do.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If by luck, you mean good luck.. then yes. It was great timing

5 years ago | Likes 178 Dislikes 2

I feel like if he had good luck he would've have gotten into the accident in the first place

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I mean where was he looking? @45mph should've been able to stop

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Other Driver: Why did you rear end me!?!? OP: I have a dashcam. OD: oh...

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

He admitted fault after making sure we were okay

5 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Good by him.

5 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Hopefully insurance company is decent

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Lol

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ah your poor TLX.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You are at fault too. Speed limit is 55, and there are signs for 45 mph, and you were going 93 kph which is 57.7 mph.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

u didnt see him cutting u off? u should pay more attention and braked much sooner to avoid the collision in the first place.glad ur safe tho

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I drive a lot for work and I'm so tired of people not giving a fuck about other drivers...me me me. Can I just get a helicopter?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks like it worked. What's your camera, if I may ask?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Kingslim D4, it's not perfect though. The audio was delayed by almost 10 seconds and the speed is delayed apparently

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw the sign for 75, so I expected this to happen. #puremichigan

Haha I used this meme to describe I-94 through Detroit before. Someone said it's been repaved and not half bad. I havent been there in years

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It doesn't get better the whole of Ohio either. Source: Cincinnatian

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You do realize how many states I-75 goes through right?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Got 75 down in Dallas

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I-75 does not go through Dallas. US75 does though. Lots of morons don't know the difference. Don't be a moron.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Thought it was dallas. Normal to drive past the safe exit, go around people and across multiple lanes at once at the last second here.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Ya we got a lot of dumb drivers here

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I immediately expected this to be 696.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’ve been in Michigan for 8 months, drove down from Alaska to get here. I have never seen more aggressive and reckless drivers.

5 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 3

Illinois. Illinois drivers are worse, I feel like.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Chicagoan can vouch. Much worse

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't want to one up you, but have you ever driven in Dallas?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I let someone else do the driving on that trip!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

dont go to florida. grew up in michigan my whole life. florida drivers are either 80 years old or rip 3 lines of blow to start the car.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hello from the Matsu! I'm from Gaylord MI. Drivers in the lower 48 suuuuuck. So hard.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One of these days I want to get up there. Grew up on the Alaska highway but never gone all the way

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Florida- y’all send your nasty, terrible drivers and they all get to neglect their turn signals & common sense together at 75+… seriously.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I lived there once. Michigan drivers make their driving your problem, no matter the situation. Existing on the road is a sin they'll punish.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I grew up over the line in OH so I know MI drivers, lived in Dallas 4 yrs, and now in S. FL. Its also the order of worse to worst drivers.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And since there are no inspections, many of those crazy drivers have 4 bald tires, questionable brakes, and few working lights.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's insane, even going with the flow isn't fast enough for people.

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

No matter how fast you go in Detroit, someone will be going faster than you.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh my God I know it's ridiculous

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of Michigan is not too bad to drive if you can resist falling asleep. But Detroit... almost as bad as Los Angeles

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a former detroiter i feel this and the sixty million pot holes on the road.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought as much and not surprised coming from a windsorite who has driven through there.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Detroit definitely has a different bread of drivers

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Moving to the Detroit area from Windsor, you have to learn how to drive all over again. You either drive or get ran over.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm from Toronto & am in Detroit regularly & have to agree, more aggressive drivers there. In Toronto, we just have idiot drivers.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

as a former taxi driver, I always hated the davison. glad ur ok

5 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

It's usually not too bad, it's the Lodge and 94 downtown thats the worst

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Yup, I drive that almost every day

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Spouse totaled a car on the Lodge years ago; an SUV wanted to play bumper cars....

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Oh man, fuck the Lodge. With the Lodge.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What car did you have?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2018 Acura TLX

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bet that shifted

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Slightly lol

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank fuck for car insurance!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It looks like you didn't brake at all. Was it really the case? Whole footage seems happening at too high speed for a construction passage

5 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

You need to look at the bottom - a fisheye lens makes it look like things are faster.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

The video shows the speed in km. 90/95 km/h or 55miles per hour. In a construction zone.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Not really, after a dozen reviews. The speed of everyone was too high (over 20km/h), there's no reaction at all (no brakes or evasion). It's

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

just idiots flying blindly after each other. Insurance companies will feast on that footage

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh I definitely hit the brakes

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, only evasive move I COULD have done would have been to go for the wall

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I broke at the last second, the camera shows a wider view than my field of vision. I saw him just as he was about parallel to my side window

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 5

uhhh no...you weren't paying attention. Most certainly could have slowed down/stopped in time. Other car is an idiot but you fucked up too.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Slow down and get your eyes checked dude. Sure the other guy's at fault, but that doesn't mean you couldn't have avoided the crash.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 9

2/2 @Evenmorehorrifying

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

As a dash cam owner, they DO have a wider view than the human field of vision. Though, speed seemed high for roadworks area...

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Shut the fuck up. Every car has an A-pillar. They're not transparent. You're being an imbecile.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Dash cam is generally in the centre of the windshield, gives more FOV to the left. Car may have been blocked by the A pillar for driver.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Ah yes. The joys of an idiot who has all the advantage of watching a video and thinking it equates being behind the wheel" 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 12

Bud, you were going 60MPH in a 45MPH zone. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that may be part of the reason.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

Assuming the camera is correct? It says 80+ while at a full stop for several seconds. Could be wrong, but do go on...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Why even bother replying to someones comment if you are just going to immediately mute them?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Bud he was keeping up with traffic

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Is 93km/h more than 45 mph ?

5 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 2

It shows 96 after the crash which was after they were braking, could easily argue it's not accurate

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I didn't see a lot of braking prior to contact. OP is a bad driver who failed to slow down making the accident worse.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It's about 58 mph

5 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Oh then probably you shouldn't show this to your insurance company...

The unwritten rule of Detroit driving is that if you're not going 10 over, you get run over.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I think they could've stopped if they weren't speeding a little.. or paying attention fully. After watching it again

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

You're actually not allowed to stop on on/offramps AND the freeway. That would be a hard no from me.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

It seems way too fast for a construction zone

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

This is an interstate near Detroit, you're legally allowed to drive as fast as your suspension can carry you over the potholes.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hope common sense would dictate that the guy driving on the designated roadway is less at fault than the guy cutting through the barrels.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

… not using its indicators

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't bother. They are sure they are in the right, and criticism just gets them to plug their ears.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If the dash is accurate, you were also doing 60 in a 45 construction zone.. not to be that guy but I’m gonna.

5 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 6

Except he was going with the flow of traffic which is generally safer to do then going to speed limit.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

That's an excellent point, really. Plus, speeding fines are doubled in construction zones, and points are higher too. Not a bright move.

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

I saw the speed the cones were going by and thought, “no way that’s 45”

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That's why you don't get a dashcam that displays speed. The other insurance company can claim 10-20% fault and it will ding his record

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

You can determine speed with some really simple math.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

White lines 10' long, spaces between them 30'. Count lines per second, that gives you feet per second, convert to MPH.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dashcam displays in Km/h, and fluctuates so much it's completely unreliable. The reading wouldn't be useable as evidence.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

It actually says 90km/h while the car is stopped... That reading would be ignored.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

From the dash cam in the video it also looks like there is actually a slight increase in speed. Tbh first time watching I was expecting the

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

car in front to do something stupid especially after it lighted up red on the slip road. Accident was avoidable. Speedy recovery to everyone

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That footage will need to be cropped first then.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And he was still slower than the cars ahead of him. If driving speed limit means everyone else is 20MPH faster than you, YOU are the hazard

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

Insurance companies don't care.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Guy crossing barriers was still at fault.

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

I think it is better braking, honking and yelling than totaling your car but yeah, it was the other guy's fault.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Y, but stuff as this can result in "100% fault" being reduced to "90% fault" - means he has to pay those 10% himself.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

in canada its 0 fault.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sometimes an accident could've been prevented or at least damages would be less severe. That's why fault is usually shared. Maybe canada is

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

an exemption and goes black-white. In many situations that'd be pretty unfair, bc often contribute two sides to accidents.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, but a saying in motorcycle circles is dead and in the right is still dead.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s ignoring any partial liability/contributory negligence issues in some jurisdictions.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The point being you should drive defensively. This was an avoidable collision on the part of both parties, but only if OP was driving...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...defensively. A defensive driver watches for situations just like this, because they’re inherently high risk.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In some states if the police saw the video they could EASILY claim you could have avoided the crash by breaking IF you were paying attention

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Saw this too. Excessive speed is going to be ruled a contributing factor.

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

Yeah the guys insurance will probably try for 80%-20% liability or something. Really though, they wont have a case for it and theyll get 100

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Especially since he saw that guy coming - 100% avoidable

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I’m not sure I did early enough tbh. Was distracted by the speeding car in front as I was expecting it to do something when it lit up. Other

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Car doesn’t even use it’s bloody indicators. Just a short red flash when it brakes shortly before impact.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You're getting downvoted but you're right. That could have been avoided. I avoid dozens of accidents a week by being alert and breaking

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not to mention I saw the other driver merging over for a solid 6 seconds before this driver reacted.

5 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 2

I don't think you know how long a second is

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

You saw it, sure, maybe helpful that you knew an impact was imminent. I also had this knowledge but didn’t see the car until 1 sec before

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Yeah for real. How the hell did he not see that idiot coming over?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Enough time to react, for sure. I count three seconds (from the time stamp) from when it became clear what the driver was doing to impact.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Guarantee they were texting.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

No decline in speed, definitely not paying enough attention.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Probably drafting this post, no less.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Beautiful Acura. Shame people are such inconsiderate drivers

5 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I had just got it finished, wheels, suspension, paint corrected etc didn't even make it to summer!

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

those wheels look like work kiwamis. Been waiting 10 months on mine now due to covid and fuck ups from DPD

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They are Kiwamis, I bought mine from Evasive and they had them in stock.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1 yeah i wanted bronze in 17x9 for my S13 no one had them in stock so they were made in japan, then dpd damaged them now customs won't let

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 the replacement wheels come into the country without 600 extra monies because they never heard of a warranty it's been a nightmare

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn. You think it’s a total loss?

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Looks like it- airbags are going to be thousands by themselves. Depends on damage to drivetrain suspension and frame.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And with a hit like that, you can bet the frame is fucked. Unibody cars tend to not do well with that - is why they tend to be totaled out.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A part of me wants it to be and a part of me wants it to be fixed. I'll be speaking with the adjuster this week so I guess we'll see.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I thought if the airbags deployed it was always considered totaled? Also I have those tennis shoes.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Depends. If their quote for repairs is higher than the black book value, then the insurer will choose to deem it a total loss.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not always. Collapsed my front suspension and deployed curtain airbags in my car. 11k of damage but they fixed it up. Totaling was an option
