petition to bring back skidoo

Hey, as a man, if i could wear skirts to work i would. That's on you, women. I say kilts should be common men's fashion. Khakis, suits, all that - it's not exactly comfortable.

Well, given that it was illegal for women to wear pants in the USA until the 1920s.. I agree that kilts should be common fashion for men, but that's on men to take that up themselves.

Aha!, there's a good post-punk / funk band called 23 Skidoo. always wondered where they came up with their band name. https://www.discogs.com/artist/21148-23-Skidoo

How is a male trying to glimpse a woman's legs equate with 'pervert'? Walking into teenage contestant's dressing rooms while they are unclothed is more 'perverty' to me...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They should have Scots men wearing the Scottish Kilts walking around the building to help disperse the men.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well to think about it, it might attract a different kind of crowd.

The point that beautiful architecture and perverts are timeless, is still true though.

The Flat Iron Wikipedia article mentions it

23 skidoo https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flatiron_Building
the wind currents around the building could be treacherous. Wind from the north would split around the building, downdrafts from above and updrafts from the vaulted area under the street would combine to make the wind unpredictable.[287] The winds raised women's skirts and scattered paper bills from pedestrians' pocketbooks.[

[citation needed]

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Actually, it says it’s the likeliest origin.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

No it doesn't. It says it's the most widely known.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No, it says it's the most commonly known origin story, which is very different.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Unless I am missing something it says the flatiron explanation is "Perhaps the most widely known story" and doesn't speculate on how likely it is to be the actual origin of the phrase.

3/10 due to no demonstration. He should have put on a skirt and showed us.

2 years ago | Likes 689 Dislikes 10

and had a female cop come by and shoo a bunch of women away.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It probably doesn't do it anymore due to other construction in the area.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe the effect no longer happens because of all the new buildings.

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Skirt technology has just advanced. The "Dayton Stitch" used commonly now re-enforces the hem to allow the wind to pass without ruffling the under line.

ahh the ole subway grate, the trains ventilate the tunnels by pushing air along as they go so the grates allow air to exit ahead of a train and replace behind it.

Mankind would've gone extinct had men not been the way they are.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

I'm pretty sure reproduction is possible without enjoying distress and embarrassment of others, it's just outcompeted on a population level by us having a spread of desires ranging from polite and social to nonconsensual - we need the social impulses for group cohesion and while we don't *need* the less social ones, it just makes more babies overall when they're present in a subset of the population.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

You think the men were enjoying the distress? More like enjoying the UNDRESS!!! AMMARITE????

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

"23" was an old American English slang that meant to leave or get out of somewhere in a hurry.
