You wanna give lucid dreaming a go?

I hear, you’re interested in how to practice lucid dreaming?
I’m by no means an expert, and unfortunately not a natural either, but I know how to do it, and I can teach you a few tricks how to have your first lucid dream in the course of a few weeks.

Keep in mind that it does take maybe a month or more for the first results, because you have to develop some kind of routine during your awake time.
Also, be aware that I can’t be made responsible for possible uncomfortable experiences like sleep paralysis (which I’ve never experienced as a bad thing though btw.), or in case you have a mental condition or tendency like anxiety, depression, paranoia, multiple personality disorder or whatever else, I’m not sure how wise it is whether to try lucid dreaming at all.

For me personally, it’s a fun thing to do occasionally, and I like it. Never did me any harm. So, if you’re unsure, you might wanna read up on it more or talk to a professional. I’m not the right person for that.

If you wanna have a more detailed look into lucid dreaming, I can recommend Stephen LaBerge's and Howard Rheingold’s “Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming”. The cover looks horrible, but it’s a good read, and includes an in-depth and better step by step instruction than mine.

Alrighty, with that out of the way, let’s get started!

1) Remember your dreams

First of all, you need to be aware that remembering your dreams is the very first step.
Now you might say: “but I can’t remember my dreams in the morning” or “as soon as I try, they fade”. Yes, that’s normal. Your brain keeps itself entertained while your body sleeps and makes up all kinds of crazy stories. So when you wake up, brain goes out of idle mode and leaves the dreams behind.
Now, there apparently are people who don’t dream at all ever, so for those people I don’t know what to suggest. You can always try, what I’m telling the others now.

Cobb says:

So basically, when you wake up, try to stay in bed a bit, maybe eyes closed, and try to remember what you’ve just dreamed. Maybe you only remember the last moment before your alarm got you, maybe a bit more.
Try this a few times, and if you want, you can even write everything down in a little dream journal.
Do this for a week and you start remembering more and more.
You’ll even begin to realize that you dreamed more than one dream. Like episodes that aren’t necessarily connected. I enjoyed that part as well, because you start to understand with how much bullshit your brain comes up at night :D

2) Analyze your dreams

For a while I had a dream journal next to my bed.
(I blurred the photo a bit. I don't want you to easily read what I wrote down ;) )

So, maybe after a week or two, you should have become better at remembering dreams. At this point, I highly suggest to write them down, or at least the most important keywords, so you still have an idea what the dreams were about days or even weeks later.
Make headlines, sketch sceneries, use coloured pencils, go wild. Try to enjoy keeping the journal, so it doesn’t become a chore.

Now, you should have a few pages of dreams ready. Look at them and try to find recurring elements. You always dream of elephants, of barred windows, of the colour yellow, of a feeling of stress, even a certain taste or smell. Or you always have trouble walking straight, or everything is blurry. Anything.
If you don’t find one or two immediately, just keep looking. Sometimes they’re hard to spot. Or you simply didn’t think about writing them down earlier.

So, when you’ve found one, let’s say there’s always a TV somewhere, sometimes running, sometimes off, let’s take that. That’s your _dream symbol_ now.

Reality Checks

Okey, Reality Check sounds maybe a bit weird, but LaBerge called it that if I remember correctly, so I just stick with it.

In order to achieve a lucid dream you need to realize while dreaming that you’re in fact dreaming right then. In regular dreams, we usually just observe like we’re watching a movie or we’re forced to do what our dream makes us doing. We’re passive. Lucid dreaming is taking control over what’s happening. In other words, you try to get out of brain idle mode without physically waking up.
That may sound impossible, but it’s not.

So, for you to get there, we need reality checks. A reality check is something that tells you that you’re awake. Dreams world have slightly different rules than our actual world such as lack of continuity, weird physical laws etc.
Paying attention to these differences help us getting lucid in our dreams.

Remember in Inception when Cobb asks Ariadne in the café whether she remembers how she got here? First she wants to explain, then realizes that she doesn’t know. That’s a reality check.
I.e. Think about what happened the last five minutes. Did you walk, did you drive, does everything add up, or is there a gap in your memory that you can’t explain? If there is, you might be dreaming.

Other checks are digital watches or clocks. They never tell you real times in dreams. Rather something like “95:X4” instead of real time. Light switches usually don’t work either or do something else than switching the light on. So do elevators. And there’s a lot more.

3) How to practice with reality checks

Okey, not that kind of checking out. Moving on...

You know what a reality check is, but now you may ask how in Cthulhu's name you start doing them in your dreams.
In fact it’s easy, you need to do them while you’re awake, so you start doing them absent-mindedly in your dreams as well.

Now, here’s where the TV (or whatever your dream symbol is) comes into place. In order to do reality checks in dreams, you have to develop some kind of routine during your awake time. If your recurring dream symbol is a TV, you might wanna do a reality check whenever you see a TV. Every single time.
Look at your watch, at the time on your phone. Try to think of the last five minutes, how you got here. Where were you five minutes before? Hit a light switch, does it work?

The “penetrable palm”

There’s other reality checks as well, my two favourites are the “nose pinch” and the “penetrable palm”. I call them that, I don’t know if that’s official :D
For the “nose pinch” you close your nostrils with your fingers, so you can’t breathe through it. (Like you jump into a pool and don’t want water to get into your nose). Funnily enough, in dreams you can breathe through. So, whenever you’re able to breathe through your closed nostrils, you must be dreaming.

The “penetrable palm” is another check which is pretty weird.
You try to push the fingers of one hand through the palm of the other. As illustrated. It doesn’t work, unless you’re dreaming (or if it’s photoshopped :D )

It’s important to develop a routine with different reality checks. Because your brain will be telling you in your dreams e.g. that it’s completely normal for a watch to say it’s 55 past 29 o’clock.

After a week or so, you start doing the checks absent-mindedly and thus maybe even in your dreams.
And then...

Success?

As soon as you start doing reality checks in your dreams, you will become aware that you’re dreaming, and that is where the fun begins.
You need to know, that you're sometimes only partially lucid, at the beginning especially, and that you won’t have a lot of control over what happens. But with time, you will get better at it and the dreams last longer.
Now there’s a lot of practices out there on how to maintain lucid state and how to influence your dream surroundings, but I’ll leave that for another post. First of all you need to get to this point. Then we can think about the next step.

It doesn’t work!!

It will, trust me. Just keep trying. It took me a month or longer to have a partially (and pretty boring) lucid dream. It was over in a few seconds, then I lost control (or woke straight up, I can’t quite remember).

Just to be clear: You keep a journal, right? You have found one or more dream symbols? You do reality checks, when you see the dream symbol when awake? And have you been doing all this for a few weeks?

You can also try to go to bed early. Develop a good sleep routine. It’s also much easier to remember dreams in the morning when you wake up naturally and not by a blaring alarm. But yeah, I know how hard that is :)
Just don’t give up too soon!

But I really really can’t do it!!!

If you still struggle after a few weeks, you can actively try to induce lucid dreams by varying sleeping patterns.
There’s several ways to do that.
One is to set an alarm (best not a really loud one) in the middle of the night. Try not to turn on too much light, so you don’t wake up too much. Stay in bed and think of random things to keep your mind busy (e.g. not too hard and not too simple calculations like “what’s 243 plus 597”, in other words something monotonous works best) and lay completely still. What you try to do here is to trick your body into thinking you’re asleep, while you try to keep your brain awake. You may experience the occasional muscle flinch or the same feeling when your foot or leg has gone to sleep. That is just your body checking if you’re still awake or not and also the begin of sleep paralysis, to keep you from sleep walking. Just don’t worry and ignore it. Keep doing some calculations.
If it works, you may experience a sensation of falling through your mattress, which is exactly what you’re looking for. Then you’re experiencing the start of a Wake Induced Lucid Dream (a “WILD” as LaBerge calls it).

Theoretically you can try to WILD at any time throughout the day. But if your body isn’t tired, it’s really difficult. Unless you’re experienced with meditation, you might not manage it.

However, in my personal experience, afternoon naps work just as well. Sometimes when I’m not working and get tired at around 4 or 5pm, I can simply lie down, try to stay awake and let my body relax. About once every four or five times, I manage to induce a lucid dream. And they’re usually pretty good.

In fact, now that I write about it: I had my first lucid dream experience this way, before I even knew that lucid dreams were a thing.

Maybe you can try that too.

Is lucid dreaming dangerous or bad for my health?

Well, let’s put it this way: It’s the same as with the discussion on guns or violent video games. Guns and games aren’t dangerous per se. It’s the way you use them that can be dangerous.
They – as well as dreams – can be a lot of fun, but if there’s something bothering you, if you use them as a form of escapism or if they give you something that you couldn’t have without them, they can become a problem.
If you wanna have lucid dreams to be with a dream girl- or boyfriend, and at the same time you stop seeing actual people, well, then you’d rather stop doing it. But that isn’t the problem of lucid dreams, it’s a psychological problem.

As for the question about health... Lucid dreaming isn’t bad for your health as far as I see it. First of all, the times you become lucid physically are the same as sleeping. Your body will still be rested in the morning after a night of lucid dreaming. I can’t say how it is, if you constantly dream lucid, for me it’s usually a few very short episodes once every week or so. Not hours and hours each night. Maybe a natural can explain that better.
But generally it isn’t a bad thing. Your brain is idle anyway, so you might as well change the idle mode a bit more to your liking.

So, have fun practicing now!

What are your coolest lucid dreams? Your weirdest?

I’m curious, guys and girls.
What are your experiences?
And what’s more, for those of you who start trying now, please keep me updated on your results in a few weeks.
I'd like to know :)

Sleeping cat in a box tax

tl;dr: Dreams are fun. Lucid dreams are more fun.

Mandatory front page edit? Well, why the hell not. Send me pictures of your sonic screwdrivers. Or anything doctor who related. TARDIS dresses? Hell yeah.

Some advice, don't look into mirrors while lucid dreaming. Your face will be disfigured and can cause you to freak out a bit the first time.

Unfortunately I'm a natural. Lucid dreaming is not all it's cracked up to be. A lot of times you THINK your controlling the dream

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Yep, or you START lucid and lose control somewhere. Usually I still have control of some parts but the dreamscape is foreign.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What about when your brother turns into a bleeding loaf of bread? O.o

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Eh, bon Appétit?

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

i have depression and anxiety and lucid dreaming is great! its like another reality where you can be whatever and youre actually happy

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Sleep paralysis is not fun. Lucid dreaming is. I've been able to do it since I was a kid.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I've had it a few times but paralysis doesn't scare me anymore, it's kind of cool because I view it from a scientific perspective

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pfft whatever man! Shits terrifying to me. But now it just kinda happens and that sucks.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bingo. I'm the same way, but I avoid it at all costs. It's never worth ending up in sleep paralysis when the illusions come to get you.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same. I used to do it for fun but then I'd end up laying there with things reaching at me unable to wake up or move.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you smoke weed/drink alcohol before bed, this doesn't work.

I recently stopped smoking, smoked daily for years. Been a month since I stopped, and holy shit are my dreams insane!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Source?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Weed and alcohol makes you skip crucial sleep cycles and goes straight to REM.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And REM is the phase where most of the dreaming occur?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dreaming occurs in REM; weed and alcohol lessen REM

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah i know, but this person said that you just jump to it. Which is incorrect.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually, smoking weed before bed makes lucid dreaming way easier for me.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Actually when I smoked weed every once in a while.. I had frequent lucid-type dreams because I kept thinking I was just high while dreaming

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, not really

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

This entirely depends on the person.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Caffeine also screws everything up. For some reason nicotine patches put me in the loony dream shit, tho. (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Recurring dreams with "the king in yellow" chasing me and destroying downtown Boston. Got interesting when I started conjuring fire. (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can tell you from experience that this is not true, while also appreciating the fact that I cannot prove it.

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

My sentiments to you as well haha

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree, although alcohol can disrupt the REM sleep it does not remove it completely.Although if one drinks way to much you may fall -

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

unconscious instead of asleep, and when unconscious it becomes quite unlikely to dream.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i always try to touch boobies or do you know "other" stuff... whenever i realize i am dreaming.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Same, but also try to avoid having it turn into a wet dream

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

same brah.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congratulations on your wedding. I learned you two met after posting this content. Best of luck

That we did. Thanks!

I usually just fly, I dematerialize my dream in a way or just change the scenery and lift off. Sometimes I fly to space.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I've had a handful of flying dreams. Some lucid, some not. Best dreams I've ever had. Waking up is always incredibly disappointing though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love flying (and breathing underwater) while lucid dreaming!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have read that flying into deep space in your dream could be dangerous.. Kinda stuck in my head so I don't fly further than clouds...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My reality check is to touch my lips with my fingers. If I can't feel either (because they're out of my field of vision), I'm dreaming.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

That's a good one. I like it!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine always has something to do with water. I'm swimming or diving and all of a sudden I can breathe under water and it clicks.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I look at my hands. That or I try to move through a wall. Sometimes there's a bit of resistance but I relax and then move through the wall.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try reading.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have. Most of the time its nonsense, but a few times I actually could read paperwork. Had to stop using it as a check cuz it wasnt 100%

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me its just a darkened blur. Never been able to read it. But then again I can identify people in dreams I know but they are faceless....

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine is looking at my watch twice. In dreams, it always shows two different times.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yup, that's what it does. Or it just doesn't show a real time

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ooo, clever. Do you normally wear a watch when awake, and it carries over?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Exactly. I can't be bothered to drag my phone out of my pocket to check the time so I wear a watch.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a pretty regular lucid dreamer, I use it to fly or work through problems, used to have sleep paralysis often but not really anymore

10 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Any sleep paralysis staties?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Flying never works for me.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had that same problem. I could never fly just on my own, needed some sort of rocket pack to do it. The first time I finally did fly 1/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I made my feet have rockets spit out of them to fly. Like barefoot flames shooters. Try to give yourself some logical(ish) thing to fly 2/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

with. That seemed to help me. 3/3

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Iron Man Suit?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Always as soon as I realize I can or am flying it stops working. I get frustrated as hell

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Start by jumping and holding yourself in the air then try to push up a few feet at a time. Practice makes superman.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes! I love to fly started young and now have so much dream control. I used to be gone for days, weeks years. I've seen the world burn 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I induced myself into sleep paralysis once, by not moving at all and staying awake in my head while the body starts sleeping.Cool experience

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think I've done that a few times. But I can't tell if I was properly doing it, or being to lazy/tired to move

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How do you get a cool experience? I know how to induce it also and I can't control it. It becomes really scary.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It was just a curious feeling, that your body becomes like a statue and you're still awake in there. I like weird feelings !

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had once when I was still partially dreaming and shadowy creatures tried to tear my body apart and I couldn't move. NOT COOL EXPERIENCE!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It can also be a way to induce lucid dreaming I read.Once you're in that state you can "jump through a mirror" and start dreamin while awake

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never tried though, only did it once

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had a few lucid dreams of my mother who passed away three years ago from suicide.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Same with my brother, those dreams really screwed me up (and they were never positive).

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The first I came upon her in a dark room writing "I'm so sorry" over and over while crying "I'm so dumb" and "accident".

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

wow that sounds incredible, so did you feel that someone in the dream will not let you follow your mother? how could you describe that feeli

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nothing tangible, just not able to move or follow them. The stranger observed us as I chatted, but nothing evil, it was more just keeping 1/

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

an close eye on us. I also blame it for changing the dream to something else. I realized this and immediately called out to my mom and she..

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

sorta popped back up but was more anxious, told me to not follow. I did anyways and that when I hit a wall or force stopping me.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The second she was loving and warm and thanked me for forgiving her. She said she's going away but not to worry, it was the best thing.

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

The last she popped into another dream and talked about my the new additions to my family since her passing. Told me I'm doing well.

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

This dream though someone was watching and wouldn't let me touch or follow her away. When I persisted I hit a wall, and she told me to stay.

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Needless to say lucid dreaming is awesome and can bring closure when you need it most.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

This gave me chills

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Had one where I was pretending to be asleep and watching the assassin outside my window. I was also the assassin, aware I was pretending.

10 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 0

Fuckin creepy

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also have ruminating dreams where my mind engages, edits something about the dream, puts me back under, reruns it, and repeats the process

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I once had a dream re-run. I guess my brain was on holiday that night.

All my childhood dreams are in 3rd person. I am just an observer, following my younger self. Not lucid though.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The brain is one hell of a drug

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

think about it this way: drugs don't do anything. it's all the brain doing weird shit when it notices the drugs.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When I have dreams of drowning I usually know I'm in a dream because I can breathe.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I dreamt someone was choking me and I couldn't do anything. Woke up with a cat on my face.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lucky. Every time I drown in my dream, I stop breathing IRL.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup, same. Now I don't do it anymore

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I realize that, I tend to see what I can do in my dream like flying but I get distracted a lot and can't focus on one thing.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah, when lucid, you begin to compete with idle mode of your brain. Usually idle mode is stronger and you're not lucid anymore

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This also happens if I am running away from an irrational monster or creature in my dream or if a nightmare has lasted longer than usual.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah, sometimes you just don't make it. Even though you kinda have control, your fear takes over and you forget.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every time I realize I'm dreaming I decide to have sex with everyone around me quickly before I wake up. EVERY DAMN TIME.

10 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

And that is a problem? Okey unless it's people you don't want to have sex with. Then I understand :D

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

me tooooooo!!! I thought I was the only one!! Too bad I wake up too soon sometimes

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I've tried to have sex with an old ass grandma once just cuz I was like "its a dream, fuck it" smh I've never told anyone that lol

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Doesn't matter had dream sex.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lol!! Me too!! Like really random people. Old men and women for me. Its a dream so who cares.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yea she kinda looked like that...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Roast chicken. I win (or loose).

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to lucid dream, then nightmare involuntarily. I wouldn't recommend a lucid nightmare to anyone.

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

This, and sleep paralysis. Really scary when you have no idea whats happening

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It is hell! You're trapped, can't escape, too limp to fight back and being tormented by the scariest crap your mind can make up 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It takes a minute or two after waking up to realise it was a dream and you escaped it. Even as an adult I've woken up petrified from this

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

True for sure, but it has its upsides once your used to it. It can be pretty fascinating to see or feel the things your mind does to you

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not really sure that you're lucid dreaming if you're having a nightmare. You should know then that it's just a dream and not be afraid

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I've had nightmares where I realize i'm dreaming and my nightmare and I kind of fight for control, or partial lucid nightmares.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it was more like I knew I was asleep and I couldn't wake myself up. Like a horror movie you are stuck in.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you open your eyes, the dream continues with your eyes open, you might then, see shadow people. or worst, yourself.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ive had a lucid nightmare but it turned out to be badass because I was controlling it

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only thing about that is once you realize that you are having a nightmare you can change the dream.. I've done it with practice.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agree 100%. Done it myself. The only one thing you have to remember while lucid dreaming is YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! I turn bad dreams to fun!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had kind of a lucid nightmare once. Once it started turning south, my brain was like EJECT, EJECT, EJECT, and I woke up immediately.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

candy, i wrote those exact lines once in a forum. lucid nightmares are FREAKING HELL ON EARTH.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's horrendous isn't it! Can't wake yourself up.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was lucid dreaming once, and I realized that I had to piss so in my dream I found a bathroom and used it. you can gather the rest.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I did that once, only for me, it was a false awakening. Woke myself up peeing.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have done this same thing more times than I'd like to admit

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh no! I frequently use the loo in my dreams. I just wake up really needing to go. Haven't peed the bed yet!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

NEVER piss in your dream! EVER! That's a check for me xD I always double check where I am before I do xD

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Okay so last night I was fishing on a dock and I spotted this crocodile sized green man fish kinda like old Greg but it was actually (1)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A child hood friend of mine known for being grimy which was hilarious to me, and so after I got him on the dock he I started laughing (2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At how he was a fish thing with a green tainted human head and well he got mad I guess cause he started pissing all over me which now (3)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seems like an odd defense mechanism.. But anyways I wasn't gonna take no shit from my fish friend so I returned fire and knocked him (4)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I kept a small paper in my wallet with nothing but "Dreaming?" written on it. Whenever I could, I would take it out, read it, and ask [1/3]

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

myself if I was dreaming. I kept it up until it became habit. Then one day, I took the note out of my pocket, and there was nothing [2/3]

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

but gibberish written on the paper. I instantly realized I was dreaming which lead me into my first successful lucid dream. [3/3]

I'm going to start doing this!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Love this !

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

In my experience this is easily the fastest, least-hassle way of going lucid. I tried lots of other methods (like many in OP's post)... 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

but I was having lucid dreams within a month of starting the note-in-wallet trick. I was looking at the note several times a day though. 2/2

Was never the intention. I can't don't want to see Tennant as anyone other than the doctor (yet) :D But I admit, it could as well be :D

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

He was great as Barty Crouch Jr. too. He plays creepy characters amazingly well.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Haha, I've seen the movie before I even knew who he was. I eventually need to watch it again

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I watched him on Who, then watched the HP movie. I was like "Hey! That's the Doctor! No wonder he's so good at changing his face." xD

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

:D

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I somehow still love him after watching Jessica jones

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. Me too. I was hesitant to see him as anyone else. Then watched Broadchurch and later Jessica Jones. He's awesome in all!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm still hesitating. But maybe I should give myself a push

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you liked the Netflix 'daredevil' then you don't finitely should, just watched last episode of s1 and David's performance is amazing.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I haven't seen neither. But yeah, I know what a brillant actor he is. Just don't like the idea of him being mean and evil :D

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do it! He's evil but your feelings about him will ride a rollercoaster that's worth it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, sir (or ma'am)! :D I know I will, I'm just not sure when. BECAUSE of that rollercoaster ride that I knew was gonna happen :D

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly, I read this post because The Doctor said "come with me". @op great way to get audience!

That happens too, occasionally. Although lucid dreams that would be wet dreams (ifyouknowwhatimean.jpg) don't literally have to be wet

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP, I'm curious if lucid dreaming coincides with sleepwalking, or rather, if people that sleepwalk report lucid dreaming very often...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I sleep walk a few times a month. When I was 6 I got a pretty major concussion when sleep walking. I've never lucid dreamed though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

of lucid dreaming or vice versa. Unless you count being awake as lucid dream sleepwalking mindblown.gif :D

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not necessarily. AFAIK sleepwalking has something to do with sleep paralysis not working properly. And sleep paralysis isn't an effect 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My first wet dream was me banging Eminem. Me on top. He was on the toilet taking a shit in my parents bathroom. I don't regret it.

I had a friend who's first wet dream was with a big yellow lego block when he was 12. Still laughing about it now

Yup, I know about the book, but I've never read it. Thanks for the reminder

Has anybody else here had lucid "dreams" about actual childhood memories that is so vivid you can't tell if it is not happening right now?

10 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 0

Yes. One that happens all the time, I am back in high school and stressing about homework that is due or a test coming up.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've had that happen a little, but it was fairly rare.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes! When I was little, I had dreams of my puppy (who died from a seizure) coming back so many times that I finally became lucid.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More like childhood areas that I remember with detail, I can put myself back in that area and walk around with perfect detail.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have had that too. In my case they are random places with a total feel of "being there", including sound and smell.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes! Mine lately have put me back into my childhood home & neighborhood (since I played outside a lot & knew most of my neighbors)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/1 when I have one of those lucid "dreams" (which are actual memories) it is so exciting that it makes me wake up after a few minutes.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Very seldom but yeah. Happens sometimes

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Oh man, that is my shit. I love them. It is so exciting that my heart starts beating faster and faster until I wake up.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have no idea how. But spinning works 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You mean actual, physical spinning... or just enacting that in the dream?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you manage to pin in your bed, I'd be impressed :D no, I meant spin your dream body. Ofc. it's only possible if you're lucid

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Its a method of stabilizing the dream. There are quite a few ways of doing this, if i remember correctly rub your hands together or scream -

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, exactly. Screaming never occured to me, but might work too

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That you are in control / that you want to stabilize the dream etc.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah. You know what you could do? One method to calm yourself is spinning in a circle very slowly. If possible with outstretched arms. 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes, I have had dreams that make me so confused because I can't tell whether or not it actually happened.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Read this guide. Now my coworkers think I'm insane as I walk around pinching nose and trying to pierce my other hand with my fingers.

10 years ago | Likes 215 Dislikes 2

Others include looking at text and the letters don't stay, the light switch working, and my favorite, galloping long distances. Love that.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always look at my hand, look away, then look back. Has worked 3 times in a year for me. Its always deformed the second time if I'm dreamin

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looking at your hands is also a pretty good but discreet (if performed with that in mind) reality check.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's my check!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the thing :D the nose pinching maybe isn't the most low-key check. Looking at your phone is maybe better :D

I can lucid dream and i really love it. I can control some parts of it and even change my surroundings. But everytime i try to fly, 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i will wake myself up. Kinda a bummer when you can breathe underwater with whales and stuff but unable to fly. =(

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I have trouble with flying too sometimes. In non-lucid dreams it's easy, but in lucid oney you seem to forget how sometimes :D

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm an under-water-breather, too! Also can't fly; but I can do a controlled-fall from great heights and sometimes jump!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Scumbag brain will wake me up when i jump too high. Its like i broke a game by turning off gravity.

10 years ago | Likes 199 Dislikes 3

A friend of mine only dreams lucidly, and she seemed to suggest it was pretty cool.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do this naturally as well, but I just call it vivd dreaming. It is really scary sometimes.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Does everyone else dream in first person? My dreams are like movies and I'm watching what happens.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I switch between being a character (me but it's not usually me - sometimes I'm a man, or a my race or age changes) and watching from outside

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. A lot of the time, I'm not even in my dreams, or I am seeing through another person's eyes.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes first person, sometimes watching, sometimes abstract concepts that I can't put into words or even comprehend when awake.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I meant if I make a new comment instead of a reply to yours. Thanks for the concern, but you shouldn't be.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, I see. It all makes sense.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been able to do this since I was 8. Half my life I have been expereincing stuff like this and sleep paralysis. It's terrifying.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Lucid dreaming is rare for me but whenever it happens I experience sleep paralysis after which is super frightening.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I first lucid dreamt when I was 8. I haven't had a nightmare since. It is important to remember that it is your mind. You are in control.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know, but sometimes I think of horrible things. The best way to get out of this is to close my eyes. Oh, and thank you for the advice. :)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This, also sleep paralysis isnt a bad thing... its quite natural in lucid dreaming and the only thing you can do is accept it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to be able to do this but I don't recall ever doing any of this as prep. I just could. Then it stopped. I miss it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hate that I naturally lucid and vivid dream! I always wake up exhausted. I ended up having to go on meds for it.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I wake up exhausted from lucid dreaming too.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Naturally lucid dreamer, too. Sometimes I don't have total control - which is when things get so scary I just keep myself from falling back

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

asleep. It IS very exhausting forcing myself to wake up every 20 or so minutes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was looking for these comments! I'm also a natural lucid dreamer and it (occasionally) ruins my sleep. I wake up completely unrested!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What medicine did you take? I have the same problem and I am ready to get a normal night's sleep

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sent you a message!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's just because you only have partial control. May have something to do in your own confidence.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

It's impossible to "hide" though in your dreams, as what you view as "you" are only the conscious part of your mind.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A seed of doubt will here, as opposed to the real world most likely lead to that thing playing out in the dream.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You'll have to take into account that the dreams are the communication between the conscious and the the other part of your psyche.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When I was the kid and had to listen to the drug talk, I always thought "my brain's scary enough - why would I make it worse?!"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't realize this happened to other people. I used to have to kill myself in lucid dreams to escape when they turned freakish and scary.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

No need to exit, the key is to regain control. Everything to a certain extent follows your will if you are confident enough.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My brain does the same thing. But it usually culminates in me controlling my dream.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't mind scary dreams because it makes me appreciate my real life after I wake up

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I completely agree with you. My regular dreams/nightmare I usually forget the details of after a day or so. But ALL my lucid dreams I -->

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still remember to this day. I feel a little guilty, because I was supposedly in control. So, why didn't it just turn to unicorns and bacon?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have never had a nightmare. Well, at least not that I can remember.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do this naturally too. I hate it. You just describe exactly what I deal with. Thankfully it doesn't happen all the time.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a thing, I've experienced that feeling of my mind "throwing what it can at me" to seemingly test what I'm willing to go through.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have exactly the same dreams & I always wake up wishing I wouldnt get frightened. The only dream I controlled was a blowjob dream.honestly

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn! That sucks. It doesn't sound like you're in control though. Nightmares while you're aware you're awake.

10 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 0

I've had similar lucid dreams, it's sort of like trying not to think about something after somebody says not to think about it

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

i had a lucid dream the thing that killed me still looked in my eyes like "yep, gonna stand here and make you shit yourself until morning"

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I completely agree... especially the time when it just comes out of nowhere. The scene in Inception when everyone realized you aren't (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Supposed to be there so they all go after you.. that's actually happened to me on multiple occasions (before the movie was released) (2/?)

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How do you make something happen :o

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I don't know, you just know you can do whatever and make it appear. Kind of like imagining while you're awake, but more real.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You need to do what the post says, because only with lucid dreams you can choose what to do.

I seriously cannot control what happens in my dreams. I just go with it, and in that universe it's as if my mind believes he does not exist.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a dream, lighten up.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I get that. But maybe it could become fuel for some fantasies? You know like cos- or roleplay that you might wanna try out?

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Definitely. I have a pretty fulfilling sex life tho. Just can't help to indulge in what it would be like with someone random... In a dream.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

make you unhappy or unfulfilling, it's okey. They are your dreams and only yours :) 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's nice to hear :) I guess it's normal that you have these thoughts, abd that they come up in your dreams. As long as it doesn't 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always.. ALWAYS.. wake up right before the sexytime happens.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I've had lucid dreams and sleep paralysis (SP) many times. SP is one of the most horrific experiences I've ever had. Not worth the risk.

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I hear you, mate. Got sleep meds that cut them down substantially. SP is pretty horrible but you can get used to them (still sucks though).

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SP is terrifying. I hate it. Especially because I can't control it.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

ive never had this happen, but i heard that if you hold your breath for awhile you will wake up

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You get used to it if you do it excessively

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What do you think/do now that you get used to it?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I let the front-end and back-end of my brain battle and see how long takes to fully wake up. And if I have hallucinations, I think 'bout 'em

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When you have SP you can control your eyes? because some say that they close their eyes to avoid hallucinations

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've done this. I've had "things" touching me & all I've closed my eyes in thinking it would go away - it doesn't. Then you wake up.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have had some beautiful lucid dreams, but also scary ones where i'm not completely confident that i'm actually dreaming.

10 years ago | Likes 868 Dislikes 2

I remember one from childhood. I was kidnapped from my parents, and instead of fighting, I decided to relax and see where they took me..

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ended up being a nice bike ride o.0

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think I mostly lucid dream. . it's not a great way to rest and I don't know if they're real in the am or not.. really freaky honestly

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I can never fly in mine, but I can jump increasingly bigger heights and float slowly back down. It weirdly feels like swimming.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A lot of people start out like that, then "learn" to actually fly.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I try my hardest not to remember my dreams. I'm good at it but they're mostly nightmares and really fucked up or sad.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I learnt to lucid dream trying to escape a recurring nightmare. I stopped having it after the first time I changed it. Maybe give it a shot?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you can fly, superjump, or make your secret sexual fantasy person(s) appear, you're dreaming. Works for me.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've had nightmares where I've questioned reality... but been afraid to be sure.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dude when i was a child i used to see the ghost of My mom come into the room without even opening the door.(She's alive.)

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I have learned to believe that these experiences are hypnagogic hallucinations.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've had one of those too and wasn't completely convinced I wasn't still dreaming for another hour or so after waking; pretty unnerving.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've had nightmares where I suddenly knew nothing was right, that I was dreaming and couldn't wake up. I could hear my voice calling out.

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I've had that. Kinda freaky at first, but I usually just start making up a world/environment and make myself a freakin' superhero.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the coolest fully lucid ones, i stepped in a car and watched as i created the world around me. This was one of my first lucid 1/?

In my first (when I could actually control it), I changed a nightmare into one where I created the world from scratch and become Superman.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and i was so astounded of the beauty and and incredible detail of the dream. Then i started to make everything drawn, first in line art 2/3

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

then started filling in the blanks with colors. It was an amazing experience that i would recommend anyone!

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Thats fucking cool.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Indeed! A little show of the real possibilities of a dream.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's never lucid dreams, but the only ones I remember are always the ones where I've been attacked or myself or other are being killed. :/

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel you. Many times I've been killed, but when I started lucid dreaming I'm pretty much immortal. Sometimes I even hear badass music.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

While taking my revenge B| for myself haha... I'm thinking only on myself pfft :(

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I lucid dream regularly and my worst dream has been going to work for a full day, then waking up to have to go to work.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

In a lucid dream you would break free from the constructs of the dream and create your own instead. This is what makes them so interesting.

Thanks. I tried.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think I mostly lucid dream. . it's not a great way to rest and I don't know if they're real in the am or not.. really freaky honestly

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's actually called dream intrusion. It's a common problem with lucid dreaming, according to my docs. There are meds that can help.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not down with meds but I have a documented sleep disorder and I'm curious about getting in that field of study. .

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, i don't really feel any different rest-wise if i'm lucid dreaming or not. Maybe i'll even feel better after a lucid dream.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When i have lucid dreams, it's always the later ... I'm actually relieved when I wake up that it was all but a fragment of my mind ...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Our sub consciousness is a fucking scary place. I wouldn't dare to go deeper in it.

Just don't get stuck awake, in sleep paralysis, getting torn apart by a dream monster. Sucks.

was a dream and gave me a gun, "That i could just shoot him".

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I think he is.. UNLESS, this is a dream.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

He is a projection, hurry and kill yourself to wake up! (joking!)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh shit. I would just bail on the entire scenario all together. I default on making myself a superhero xD

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have you ever died in a lucid dream? That's pretty scary, especially if you don't wake up right away.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Dying" just has the effect you think it has. The dreams does not have innate knowledge of how dying is. It's just your version of it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Have you ever seen enter the void

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I died in my dreams and thought I woke up in a black void of hell before I realized there weren't any lights on in my room

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, you've also gotta resist the urge to open your eyes during sleep paralysis, or you may start hallucinating. I've seen some crazy shit.

10 years ago | Likes 251 Dislikes 0

Ooow. I can relate to that buddy.. scares me but intrigues me too.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A life sized doll slowly opened my closet door and stood staring at me whilst I couldn't move. So yeah fuck sleep paralysis.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, I'm sure you could, reading all of these has me creeped the fuck out.. I've have had sleep paralysis as such, but I've woken........

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Up suddenly and have seen weird shit like the room resizing and walls melting, and spiders all in the bed

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just posted a wall of replies that involves this. Sleep Paralysis has made me see and feel nothing short of absolute terror.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

would you be willing to share your experiences with what your saw?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean I can make a post but it's basically horror. Heh.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the worst is auditory hallucinations and no visual ones. For some reason, that scares me more than seeing things.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I heard some of my hallucinations scrawl up my bed so it took awhile before I got that it was my brains doing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doesn't happen often but whenever I do have sleep paralysis, I hallucinate. It's always a slenderman-esque being looming over my body.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I once "woke up" to find SCP-173 lying next to me, staring me in the face...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Didn't know what that was. Looked it up. I'm sorry. Hahaha

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have seen some uncomfortable stuff too, usually right after I wake up. Nowadays when I open eyes I shut them quickly for second or too.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Please tell me what did you saw!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spiders, "cat-rat"-like creature, saw earlier someone called it rabbit. But no humanoid figures, thank god.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The worst is when something touches you. Nothing's there, but often you'll feel (or see) something sitting on your chest, or even worse 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

choking or even molesting you. It FEELS real, just like in a dream. I had a pack of wolves gnawing my hands a few weeks ago. Lotsa screams.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've had sleep paralysis once, no hallucinations but I physically felt like something was molesting me. It was horrifying...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I (not OP) typically deal with things like rats, the devil, aliens, or I see family members walking around ignoring me

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only spiders and weird creature for me this far. Nowadays I "NOPE" myself quickly before I got to see anything.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What have you seen?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spiders, "cat-rat"-like creature, saw earlier someone called it rabbit. But no humanoid figures, thank god.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How does sleep paralysis work?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You have brain hormones that keep you from moving during sleep so you don't hurt yourself, or sleepwalk. Sleep paralysis occurs when 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Highlights: I've met the devil, seen aliens taking my wife, and had wolves chew on my arms (it HURT). All while frozen, helpless, and lucid.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

. .those hormones work too well, keeping you frozen when you wake up. Since you're still in a dream state, you see and hear some WILD crap.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That doesnt sound nice. Is it a big chance it can happen?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've never hallucinated in sleep paralysis but I've been stuck for what felt likr forever (probably a minute or so). What gets me is I 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Feel like I can't breathe during them. And then I usually jerk awake really out of breath. Woke up my husband once after an episode.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That might be sleep apnea. Being jerked awake out of breath might mean you stopped breathing and gasped awake

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But if feels like I'm awake but can't move

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good to know it's not just me! I remember once I had my face down on my pillow and I was terrified. I've found that trying to (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(2/2) use my smaller muscles in smaller ways (i.e. twitching my toes and fingers) helps me to snap out of it (or at least to pass the time).

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same thing happens to me. I don't hallucinate but I can't breathe.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can make a tiny sound. My wife knows if she hears it to roll over and shake me until I snap free. Sometimes she has to bodyslam me.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't experience sleep paralysis. Which leads to as you say, a lot of weird stuff in half awaken condition almost every time i sleep.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Dark beings watching me from the door, small devils sitting on my shelf. But also non scary stuff, like rabbits in my bed.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Once one of them took their mask off and it turned out to be the Joker

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(Some are middle aged some can be little kids)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are ways to end that through meditation.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Care to elaborate? I have had some experience with meditation, but not kept with it to make an big impact. Had any similar experience?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Mine almost always involve intimidating figures, nondescript, and often dark and terrifying. shadowy figures in the room, no thanks!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah i've experience that too on several occasions and i'm still okay! Both physically and mentally, haha!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rabbits scare the shot out of me and sometimes I see them like u do... sometimes they're middle aged guys in a rabbit costume that's torn up

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think I have seen this "rabbit" twice, but to me it was more like "cat-rat"-like creature. Bastard scrawling up my bed, or in my closet.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats fucked up, haha.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

i've experienced sleep paralysis twice myself, i'm just rather intrigued by the concept of lucid dreaming. it does seem like the forced 1/

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

one would lead to higher chance of sleep paralysis, however, you never know. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

would you be willing to share your experiences with what your saw?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Easier said than done but remaining calm can actually make sleep paralysis sort of pleasant Stay conscious of it and it becomes meditative.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get sleep paralysis several times a year, have done my whole life. I eventually figured out that if I can calm myself rather than force...

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

... myself to wake up, I will usually begin lucid dreaming. Scary shit indeed, but you can master it.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've tried to do that, I've read other people saying it's like astral projection, and all this crazy shit, but I ended up having sleep 1/?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ya that happened naturally to me one time when I was like 6. My teddy bear walked across my bead. Scared the shit outta me...

10 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 0

I saw bugs crawling out of the walls and ceiling and then a bunch of teens trying to give me some Pepsi, and my twin turned into one of them

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Naturally when I was younger as well; didn't see something specific, just ominous presence to my right. Looked like an angel.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh god. As a little kid I had a horrible hallucination about bugs crawling everywhere, the room flooding, then the ceiling coming off!!!! :(

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck man I would've cried about that for months

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My dad also told me about one of his when he was younger. His tennis shoes ran into the room, laughed at him, and then ran out.

Like a Balrog but more shadow, less flame. Fit into an average humanoid frame. Definitely remember some rams horns too.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

does this ring a bell?

10 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 4

I'm not to understand that you believe supernatural things were happening to you during just that time you might be supposed to be dreaming?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's probably some kind of parasomnia, which make me dream/hallucinate a while after i wake up from sleeping.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I get pretty realistic nightmares following me from nightmares into waking, but there's no use imagining they're real. That way lies madness

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree, but the reaction to seeing something different than when you went to sleep is hard to contain. But if i were to believe this to be

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

real in other times, i would of course be scared in general of supernatural thing. And that i am not.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't dream. Tell me what dreams are like. When I sleep I fade to black, then I'm awake assumably some time later.

10 years ago | Likes 275 Dislikes 4

Think back to when you we're a kid. When you'd play the floor is lava and you could almost feel and see it. Its kind like that in a way.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know when I don't sleep for enough hours in a night, I can't remember my dreams. Try sleeping for 9+ hours and/or take melatonin.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We dream several times throughout the night but not everyone can remember them.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You do dream. If you didn't you'd be really unwell. You just don't remember them. It's completely different.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

For me it's a random storyline, often with a sprinkling of folk In my life. Most of the time my dreams have preset rules and backstories 1/?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I guarantee you that you do dream. Everyone dreams Everytime they sleep, just some people can't remember doing it when they wake up.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Philosophical question: If nobody remembers, did it really happen? Empty bottles and a broken chin say 'yes' but I told the police 'no'.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Think of it like random replays of jumbled sub-conscience non sense that consumes your vision. When I watch Dexter I have murder dreams.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Do you smoke any marijuana? Pot inhibits your ability to dream

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's a rush of emotions. You can dream you have fallen on a slick surface and wake up and your body will jerk trying to catch yourself.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Try waking up in the middle of the night and going back to sleep, typically this will trigger dreams for me (not lucid)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's like getting flashes of another time or place, it could be like a picture, or a few seconds, or an entire story, but it's not like

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Watching it on tv, it's just sort of there, in the same way that you see patterns when you rub your eyes too hard.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i'm in a psych class right now and we're studying sleep and the brain right now, and my teacher says that everyone dreams. If you don't 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

remember your dreams, it's because you were able to complete your sleep cycle without interruption. Congrats on never being rudely awakened

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I do sleep quite soundly, and usually 7 hours without interruptions.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I probably haven't had a dream in two years, worrying that I may never have another

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would LOVE to hear more of that dream! The longest in-dream time I've had was like 2 weeks, still pretty cool

I'm not a dreamer either. Just pitch black, then it's morning. I've tried most of the tips in op to remember, but nothing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everyone dreams. Its been proved in multiple psychology studies. What it might means is that your alarm does not jolt you awake each morning

Oh, it jolts me alright. I'll give it another shot.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you have trouble feeling rested in the morning it wouldn't hurt to do a sleep study. When I found out I had sleep apnea, and started 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Treating it, I started remembering my dreams. I assume it has something to do with me never hitting REM sleep. Worth a look though 2/2

imagine that all physical values can change, plus you can spontaneously create more dream content by "remembering", 1/2

Dreaming is like watching a crazy movie where everything can happen.. But only remembering 3-5 seconds of what happend

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dreams are weird emotional roller coasters where improbable things happen.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since then I can't remember any dreams I've had if I had any.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're being serious, my suggestion would be to turn off the heat in your house or even turn on the the AC before bed. 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dreams are like alternate versions of reality.. like visiting a virtual parallel universe or tripping balls on hallucinogenic drugs

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I noticed that I dreamed significantly more when I went to sleep in a cold house. It's also better for you in general. Give it a shot!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've got a running joke about it. I remember I used to dream when I was younger. I don't remember them. After getting married, it stopped.

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

I am 100% sure you dream. You just can't remember them

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Im the same way as him 90% of the time i do not dream. So it would seem you are 100% incorrect on that.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So I tell my wife that when we got married all my dreams came true, so I don't dream anymore.

10 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Yeah... Better line than, you killed me dreams! :P

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nice! Totally got a blow job that night haha

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well i'm sure she got quite flattered, it's a pretty smooth line!

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I am a natural, started doing this before I knew it was a thing or it had a name. Following some advice from others am getting better at it

10 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 3

Same here. Unfortunately it ends up something like this. Start lucid dreaming, mom starts buzzing her hair, proceed to dream that 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...giant bees are flying into my ear and making a nest. Ended up sobbing on MIL's shoulder.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same. Another trick I picked up to "help me" along is trying to dial my cell phone. E.g. I click "dad" but it winds up somewhere else.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I do the cell phone trick, too. Once, in a dream, I did manage to successfully connect to the person I intended to call in the dream. 1/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was desperately trying to reach my husband but the phone kept dialing weird but I refused to give up. Even recalling the number I was 2/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Trying to dial was insanely hard to remember. But I kept at it until I got him. Once I heard his voice in the dream I cried. It was a 3/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Really intense moment. I woke up feeling relieved and a bit messed up.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me too! I've had a recurring dream since i was a kid about being chased by a TRex and that helped me to realize i was dreaming whichallowed

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I had dreams being chased about a trex when I was a kid too. Remember hiding behind a door in the middle of my garden to escape from it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me to try and change it.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've had recurring dreams of my sister being stabbed to death by a minotar. They started when I was 6 and lasted until I was around 14.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

OMG me too. Mine had red eyes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's crazy! Were you wearing a toga in yours??

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, I just remember it lurking in pitch black shadows and all I could see was his eyes. Then he would either murder my parents or sister.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol wtf

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Pff... You get a TRex, I got a huge mob of mutated, freaky, unholy, ugly ass, monster THINGS cashing MY ass down a freakin' dead end

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me too! Ive been doing it since I was too little. My reality check is flying because falling was a recurrent dream in my childhood

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is weird! My reality check is trying to fly and it works. Funny thing is this morning my check was a clock after reading this yesterday

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So this article worked!Trying to read or turning on/off lights works too.Isaw that in a movie,I stated practicing. But flying is way more fun

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Melatonin helps me as well, make the room dark (no clocks) and a sound machine to keep out noises. I've had tons of fun!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

really? I find it easier in the morning when Im not in my deep sleep. when there´s a little bit of light in the room

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about when I have a scary dream then half way thru I think "fuck this" and decide to fight what's scary. Anyone else make choices?

10 years ago | Likes 601 Dislikes 3

Best time was when dinosaurs were chasing me, scary as fuck at first, then I stopped, looked at them, they stopped... We were now friends.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What about this: I realise it's a dream, then wake up. But then I wake up again after some time, realising that I've just dreamt waking up.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes it can go even deeper.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is actually how I got over my fear of spiders. Big ones to be precise.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I tried that. Still died.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had the same dream for like 2 months in a row as a kid of all the laundry chasing me around my house and beating me up. I beat it up once

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've faced my nightmares a few times and once I was chased by a giant worm that turned into one of the adventure time worms. It was weird

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had a dream where i was running from something and then thought about it, realized i was dreaming and said i should get up now, then i did

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember dreaming about 3 Simpsons characters trying to bowl heavy bowling balls at me down ramps at a skate park. I was laying at the 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

bottom of the ramps and got squashed and died. Then it happened again. and again. and again. All in 1 go. I didn't do anything. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to have recurring dreams when I was younger and seeing lions in my backyard while looking out my bedroom window. Every dream they (1)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

got closer and closer to window and I would always be scared awake by them roaring or jumping at me. Last dream they were in I looked in (2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a different window for once to see if I saw them still. Then I walked out the side door to my house. There was an adult male lion and it (3)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

started running after me. I ran into the front door (idk why not side door but I wasn't in control of dream) and the lion followed me in (4)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and I grabbed a big knife from somewhere and I stabbed the lion to death, like Leo did to that bear in Revenant. Right on my dining room (5)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My car is always stolen and disassembled before I can track it down. It happens in one in 10 dreams.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did it to change to something peaceful. It was stressful maintaining it & after a while the bad stuff crept back in, so I woke the hell up

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mostly learned how because I have vivid, horrible nightmares most nights, but I found it more exhausting than just dealing w them

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every single time I realize I'm dreaming and want to fight back, I suddenly have a lightsaber in my hand that extends slowly.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I basically went through a 2 hour zombie movie in my dream shit was intense cried when i woke up XD

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah and sometimes knowing I'm dreaming and choose to wake up but can't and get trapped :/ I don't sleep well

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same here. I can also hear my heart starting to beat faster.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had a lucid dream when I told the ring girl to get the fuck out of my house. Then I woke up with a racing heart.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes but what about when the dream itself realises? When it starts using reality instead of fantasy?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Do you mean something that you did in your day before the dream?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mainly just say, "I'm done." Then whatever is attacking me agrees and we go our separate ways. Sometimes become friends for a bit.

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

That sounds like a Fallout 4 story lol

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Romantic

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I do this but usually end up losing and waking up in a bit of a sweat right before I die

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of my lucid dreams are like that. Since it's lucid, I know it's a dream and try desperately to wake myself up, but I can't. The worst(1

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

was when I was dreaming that my brain was being taken over. When you're dreaming that someone else is controlling your brain, (2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yet you control yourself within the dream in your head being controlled by that person, things get horrifying. (3

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I once thought about this, can you like spawn a complete set of weaponry and a fight suit and fight the scary thing like in a videogame?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Big scary spider and I'm stuck in the web. Grew big muscles and punched it in the head. It exploded into dust and I fell awake. Was fun

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Whenever I go lucid, I go just berserk on every god damn thing xD There aren't plenty of opportunities to do what you want in nightmares ^^

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

even when the pens are falling instead of rain i dont remember it is a dream, i had the same nightmares over and over again, running from 1/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

something, last time i experienced it i told myself its a dream and got courage to turn around to see "it" 2/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"it" was i chasing myself and i got scared more than ever ( dont kill me english is not my mother language :D )

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't make myself lucid dream but from occasionally I find myself in them. My fuck this" button is to hold breath. Works for me.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Chased by a demon who wanted to kill me and get my soul, decided to stand my ground and face him. Dream ended and I woke up just as we ...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

..clashed. Since then I didn't had nightmares in a long time. Now I have "adult" nightmares involving not enough money, my future, education

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really miss my obscure weird nightmares compared to my new ones... Maybe I should really learn to have lucid dreams.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do this all the time in mine. Or used to, I don't really care so much any more. I've always been a natural lucid dreamer though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea I get angry and fight so the dream usually ends

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Videogame style ones, had once or twice. Still not sure if choices or predetermined path that just was really immersive... trippy stuff.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That wasn't scary though. Maybe tense, undercover agents style thing is the one I remember best.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've done this to get infinite ammo. I have a lot of zombie apocalypse dreams

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes! But I never feel scared, I always know it's a dream from the start. It's a sense of control. Sounds weird! But it's hard 2 explain!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have nightmares all the time. Once I dreamt I was in a haunted hotel. Midway through the dream I thought "Wait, this is a nightmare (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2/2) Fuck this" And went chilling at the beach while literally hell went on behind my back.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When a lucid dream is scary I turn myself into a dog with big ears, run, and fly home though my bedroom window and into my bed.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can make myself fly to physically get away from the scary things once I realize I'm dreaming. Its a pretty cool feeling.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1/2 - I've done that. Have successfully Kamehameha once. Tried multiple times, but they usually fail. Telekinesis is generally a winner.

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Lucky! The only few times I've managed to lucid dream I've flown for like a little while then my regular dream takes over or I wake up!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

2/2 - I once sprayed acid from my hands on this big monster thing wrecking the rpg-like village I found myself in.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I love it! I have dreams about doing a kamehamaha(did I spell it?). Man that's badass

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hallway full of giant spiders, a motorcycle, an assault rifle, and a katana. That was a good one.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Once I ended up in a Disc War with Darth Maul. Still not quite sure where that one came from.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

God dam spiders! Why the fuck do they keep being evil.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've done that (and I've also chosen to let whatever it was kill me). The dream just changes to something else that's also scary.

10 years ago | Likes 187 Dislikes 0

This wut happens for me too

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've died in dreams a few times. Each time it has been surrealistically peaceful - I can't quite explain it.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Me too. I usually just wake up afterwards

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was stuck on an island in the middle of a croc enclosure, decided to try swimming to the railing and climbing out, got chomped.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been able to turn around bad dreams into something pleasant. My first time I had two men chasing me and I ran into a closet and 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

At that moment recognized it as a lucid dream, and initiated a threesome once they found me. Everybody won.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have nothing to say....

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the thing I kicked that's spiders(my fear) ass. I changed into basically guts from berserk. Is that lucid dreaming?

10 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

Did kicking it's ass in the dream help you overcome your fear?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nah I still don't like them just that dream was better. I still avoid them

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that's why I started out doing, stopping nightmares. You get better at change the entire dream though. From a wizard to a deity IMO.

10 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

You're saying having control of your own subconscious? I can see that. Very interesting. How did you get better at it?

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Just doing it really. Being able to wake yourself up from a dream is the first step.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yeah, a lot of times. If I fight I go to the next thing that's about to happen. If I let it get me or surrender I end up dying and then (1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 everything seems to restart. Yeah like a video game...which is weird.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 everything seems to restart. Yeah like a video game...which is weird.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is the start of many of my lucid dreams. I realize this scenario/monster/etc isn't real...so I can fight it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do this all the time. I turn the scary thing into something funny

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's how I started. Eventually you can beat the monster with a mere thought. Once I remember monsters aren't real I know I'm asleep. (1)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then I can simply control my dream and leave that scene. At first all I could manage was to kill the monster. It's a slow process. (2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only scary dreams I have are of bad things happening to family. Not had one in years. I find traditional scary dreams entertaining.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I had one a week ago, that I was in the middle of a war and a guy with no skin was throwing bombs at me, I was facinated and just watched.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My worst ones used to be of my family abandoning me, but now they're of bad things happening to my sister. Weird how it changes

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, when I was a kid i learned to open my eyes when dreaming somehow, and id know I was dreaming, and either end the dream or switch it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to have dreams that mixed with reality so that I cant tell which are memories unless I use logic but I have had some epic ones

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When I was younger, I usually tried to find a way to impale and kill myself I didn't want to have to experience whatever was happening.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've done this. Typically when I decided to fight whatever it is i'm fighting changes and becomes non-threatening.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes! It's usually a sort of force push type magic. Not sure why my brain always goes to that.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One time I had a Dead Space style nightmare. Then I stumbled upon a chain saw... And then it kind of turned into something fun... I'm weird

10 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah! Thank god that's a dream cause that would be a fucking mess!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here, accept i was versing raptors. Then I found a light sabre. Lets just say light sabre trumps raptors.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I say "wait this is a dream, fuck that shit" and I wake up.

10 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 0

Done that a few times. While I few I've been able to actually slowly change it, fight back, and then change it to a completely new dream.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do this! I've done it since I was a child and never found anyone else!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ditto

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Often in dreams, i'll say "I'm dreaming right now." &then realize i still can't do anything about it.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Every time I remember this happening, the dream thread got severed and I woke up. Sometimes I just rolled over went back to sleep though.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly my problem. I'll just say i'm dreaming and do nothing as if i said nothing at all

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Had nightmares as child. Learned to recognize them. Now when the monsters come, I can either choose to wake up or give myself a way to win.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same. My dad taught me how to lucid dream so I could stop my nightmares.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that happened with me once, found footprints leading into the woods, knew what was coming and basically just said "screw this" and woke up.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i have had some pretty creepy ass scary dreams after they were done i had trouble falling back asleep

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of Slender. I was so scared, then I said fuck it and looked for him actively

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Interesting, so you faced your fears in your dream? Upon waking up, did that dream boost your confidence / take more chances / be braver?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

dude i'm talking about a video game

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Oh never mind, thought you were dreaming of slender man.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Usually once I make the decision to fight, I wake up mid-attack. THANKS FOR MISSING THE BEST PART, BRAIN.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

but it's like the epic freeze frame at the end of an action movie, with the hero and villain rushing at each other for the final attack!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm Brian!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read Brian too at first.
