Some people love the idea. I'd hypothesize that they're extroverts. Some people aren't into it. My ideal proposal is someone sitting next to me on our couch saying, "Hey, we've been in love for a while and it makes sense for us to get married for stability. You want a ring or something? No? Cool, let's invite about 10 people for a 10-15 minute wedding." I don't think I'm going to end up married.

It might be conditioning, too. I was raised with being told I shouldn't scream unless I'm in danger or hurt and need help. My friends would scream when they were excited or having fun. I thought they were crazy. I would never even scream on roller coasters or at sports games. Still don't, even though my parents can't exactly do anything about it now.
Childhood trauma is hard to shake for sure and I have a fair bit, but I think this is just the 'tism. I can't ever remember screaming from excitement. I've always been more of the quiet observative type

As cute as this stuff is, I would never make a public proposal. I (American) proposed to my girlfriend (Thai) in private, at the top of a large hill in a national park in Thailand. I had her mother's approval prior to the proposal. But I like this video. :)
I proposed in private with just a handful of family members around but i feel like you should 1.) propose when you 1000% know the answer will be yes and 2.) at that point it doesn’t really matter where the setting is.

So we met up at the same country store we had our first date at, sat at the same table we had our first date at (porch) and he proposed. This girl probably told him she wanted a little specticle, which is fine, as long as she's in on it.
I mean. She is clearly very comfortable being the center of attention. And I'd probably guess the group of people is probably friends, maybe they took her out for her birthday and he surprised all of them. I'd hope if you are asking someone to marry you you'd know if they wanted a big thing or a little thing lol
Some people are into it, but I feel like it's only really a good idea if you KNOW the person will say yes. As in like you've talked about it before. A public surprise can be a bit of a messy situation. For me, I would not mind something in a public-ish setting because we've been together for so long, but I would not like something with a tight gathering or audience like this. And I have told him as much. So he can still pick the occasion and time knowing what we are both comfortable with.
It is obvious that in certain demographics anything is turned into something public. Some want to make it a story to tell (as if only then it became something precious) and some really just want the clout coming with it. Lots of old couples i know have boring stories, because the specialness comes from things you can never put on display and that's why those couples are often married for decades.

For one thing, you dont know how much theyve talked about it, and maybe the proposal is just a formality, they both knew they are getting married and she just said i want a proposal sometime, or maybe she has clearly said she wants to marry him. These are common things.
Mine wasn't. In fact, my now husband wasn't even there for it. He left a ring and open text file on my computer and ran and hid in his room bc he was scared I'd say no. I only found it bc I was sad he wasn't there waiting for me when I got home from work so we could make dinner together and went to check emails.
