This is the molcajete at the Mexican joint right around the corner from my house. It comes with tortillas and, while not as tightly stuffed as the one in the OP, it easily feeds 4 people. It's glorious.

Place near me has Stone Bowl Bibimap and it is tasty

I want all of it in my face. Including the steaming hot container. All of it!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well now I'm even hungrier, but have to give a blood sample in an hour, so thanks for that.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Apart from the amount of cheese it looks quite good. Plus, never tasted cactus before.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Itโ€™s called a molcajete and it is fucking delicious

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

I dunno who ORDERED it, @op, but I WANT it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Would sir like to order? Why yes, just swish up a net of whatever floats past. Then boil it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Am I the only one who hates when someone overfills a bowl which causes it to spill everywhere. Sloppily presented food is so dumb. Just get a bigger fucking bowl. You aint gonna Jedi mind trick me into thinking you are giving me soooooo much that my bowl floweth over.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

My fat ass always stops on food i cant ever get. tsk.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks like something straight out of Monster Hunter

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mexican place that opened up near me recently does a stew out of a Molcajete like that. They taste *amazing*, because the material the bowl is made out of basically acts like a cast iron pot on steroids and saves all the flavors and seasonings in it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Ohhhh molcajeta mixtas! SI, POR FAVOR!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Totally would.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes please

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah molcajete. The deliciously impossible to eat food. My favorite part is when they leave the shrimp tails on.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

those are edible

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mmmmm chitin

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eating octopus is fucked up, beyond the fact that they taste gross, they're also really intelligent animals

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 6

So does that mean we can eat dumb people?

Don't eat octopus people they're way too cool for that

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 5

Theyโ€™re way too smart for that as well

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Octopus people are a thing?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Shush theyโ€™re delicious.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I mean, cheese is good, but why putting cheese everywhere? Sorry for the unpopular opinion

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

The cheese I'm okay with. It's all the other seafood that's turning my stomach.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's to hide the fact there's a frog at the bottom.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

it's queso fundido

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No this was my thought too, cheese with fish does not sound like a good combo.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Salmon and cream cheese says you're wrong. Tuna cheddar melts are backing them up. White fish with parsely and cheese sauce would also like a word...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry, that first one should be "smoked salmon and cream cheese".

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The black bowl is a molcajete and the dish is also called a molcajete, in this case, it is a molcajete de mariscos (shellfish) there are also molcajetes of beef, chicken and other meats. It has become a popular dish to share with other people at the table. The idea is to make tacos with the things in the molcajete (but it's optional)

2 years ago | Likes 176 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the info. Very interesting.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for that info.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Sharing?

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That's optional too of course

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of paella but without the rice and room to stretch out and get comfy.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should also add, it's absolutely delicious. Those cactus are called nopales, and they're great.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What does cactus taste like?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh it's great specially I love it in a taco with beef because it adds some acidity but not a lot, you just add some nopal strips. In texture it is also great, very satisfying to bite, the only issue is that as you cook it instead of realeasing water it releases a slimy substance, the one in the video is overcooked but that's how you get rid of all the slime, but there are other ways of getting rid of most of the slime without overcook it by just putting the chopped nopal on a strainer

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Only two tentacles and you want me to share? As if!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

now I'm hungry. but it's waay too much cheese.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you dont have to eat it all you know?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I like cheese. The problem -- that much cheese sort of dulls the flavor of everything else. Then again, a molcajete is usually very spicy, so the cheese might calm it down... uhmmm... 2 to go please!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's great. .... but maybe they could use a slightly larger molcajete for this...?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Here you go

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Slightly larger, same amount of stuff in it

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Instructions unclear

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sooo good my favorite what's the green thing they give you with it

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well theres cactus, green onions, jalapeรฑos and avocado

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... The molcajete originally is and was used since pre-hispanic times as a mortar to grind things to make salsas or moles, even to grind corn for tortillas, and the green thing at the beginning is a grilled nopal (prickly pear)

2 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

Say molcajete one more time...

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. Grew up in northern Mexico. I never liked nopales, but I would go ham on a molcajete de res.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Not gonna lie, that looks horrible

2 years ago | Likes 434 Dislikes 19

It looks really good, filled with 1/3 of that shit I won't even touch

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I'm going to blame that on them doing dumb stuff for Instagram, as opposed to the food itself being bad.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You don't eat it that way. You are supposed to make tacos with the ingredients so shrimp for some, squid for some, etc.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was gonna say that looks God damn amazing. To each their own though. More for me!

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 9

Crazy, I was just thinking that is the best looking molcajete I have ever seen.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Id fuck this dish up, it wants to be inside me.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

You don't eat it that way. You are supposed to make tacos with the ingredients so shrimp for some, squid for some, etc.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree. It's a terrible final product made almost entirely out of wonderful things.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Yโ€™all are boring

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm with you that looks dreadful...

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Yeah, I guess it's an American thing. I love your burgers but too often you just lose it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Thereโ€™s no way this is an American thing.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's actually a Mexican thing. Molcajete. You're supposed to use it to make tacos for a group.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That makes sense now

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this is actually not an american thing, you share the meal and make tacos out of different meats

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think it just seems unnecessarily messy/overstuffed. Like no one has even taken a bite yet and already there is overflowing sauce all over the paper on the bottom. Seems fun in concept, but maybe just not great in practice.

2 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 4

I was thinking the frog is a little understuffed and fell kinda flat.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tons of videos are like this for some reason... Starts off looking amazing, then halfway through you're thinking "Nah, that's too much"

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Half way thru i went from "oh yeah" to "this is too much for me, thats like 3 meals worth." Honestly sad that these videos are often like that, its either over portioned and wasteful or over portioned and unhealthy

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Other people saying this is meant to be shared between folks at the table but still, this presentation is just shit

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, there are so many of these restaurant "look at our food" pictures/videos that feature horrid creations that just overflow their container and run all over the place. I mean, the food probably tastes good, but why would I want to eat it from something that is two sizes too small where half the food ends up on the table - or worse in my lap...

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Isn't that like half the hype of a sloppy Joe!?!?@?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It just kept getting worse. I think I saw intestine or something

2 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 14

Better, it gets better

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 7

That was octopus

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Talapia, shrimp, chicken, steak, octopus, sausage, jalapenos, cactus, cheese, limes. Not sure what the seared stick are.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Looks like haloumi

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Huh, it does kind of look like that. That would be an odd topping for a multi-yeti.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Molcajete*

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Me too

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like 'multi-yeti' way better.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is the frog going to be ok

2 years ago | Likes 613 Dislikes 5

Yeah, this is just the frog peeling. You can peel a frog 2-3 times a year and it grows back.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Professional stunt frog hired for video purposes. He's alright.

2 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The pot was already boiling, so the frog will notice the heat and get out.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I totally thought that was a frog

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He is already flat out

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's just his pajama

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's cactus. I hear it's not bad.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was thinking the same thing, why is there a skinned frog in that?!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's nopal (cactus, prickly pear) it's awesome to eat in your taco with other things

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What about the octopus?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

he's going to be delicious

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Precisely my thought.

Yes, it uh, just disrobed to take a bath.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

F u. But thank you? Now I can't unsee?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you talking about the roasted pepper that looks like frog skin?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it's roasted cactus. But now I can't see unsee the frog. XD

2 years ago | Likes 204 Dislikes 0

Bless you, I had a heart attack for a minute

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was certain it was a skinned frog

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I was wondering. It grows in Hawaii too, but I dont see prickly pear on plates.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Thank God for that. I saw a frog and it ruined this gif for me

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was sure it was a frog! I hope you're correct! ๐Ÿคฃ

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one that saw that. I was CONCERNED. I mean I know eating frogs is a thing but that looked like a deflated frog.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I am wondering what the charcoal is for, and flovorwise be strong enough to knock back the blood flavor.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good god. This is horrible!

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

At least the frog is dead

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had fried frog legs, but this is pretty fuckin nasty.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This kills the frog.

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

It's a being food coma

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Uh, I have traveled as a backpacker through very small, rural towns in North Loas during the morning rush. I have seen things for sale as food, and being openly consumed, .... no wait, openly enjoyed! Which make this seem refined. Living tarantula, flash fried mice babies, un-hatched, but living song bird eggs, living bats simply de-fur-ed over an open flame and stuffed whole in the mouth!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's pretty cruel

They were breathing when she picked them up

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 15

I think its alive when she picks it up, but dead when she is filling it.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

No it wasn't.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Looked alive when she put it back in the steamer, couldn't watch the rest. Thats a certain NO from me.
