I hear different frequencies in each ear. One is higher than the other. At night I hear classical music whenever there is no other noise distractions. Eeeeeee and iiiiiiiiii
Yeah, it's pretty much constant for me. Most of the time it kinda just fades into the background and I "forget" it, but occasionally it's right up front, and rarely it's so bad it's difficult to concentrate.
I have TMJD. Have had it since my young teens. Pisses me off cause a mouth guard would have fixed it when I was like 8 but my insurance wouldn't cover it and I've been forever cursed with endless eeeeeeeee and jaws that pop so loud others can hear it.
I know loud is proud when you’re young, but it adds up. Even things like leaf blowers, power tools, vacuum cleaners and even riding with the car windows down can cause permanent damage. Keep earplugs handy, it’s a one way trip otherwise
Damn I've had it for so long I never hear it until I read about it or someone mentions it. Back to the ᵉᵉᵉᵉᵉᵉᵉᵉᵉ for a bit I guess. It's like The Game that you all lost.
I don't have it myself but have heard of a technique for temporary relief or at least lessening of the noise, if you want to try. Start by cupping your ears with the palms of your hands and add some pressure, then use your fingers to thump against the back of your head/neck. I think as hard as you can? Keep it up for a half-minute or so while keeping your ears cupped. Seen people online say it has cleared their tinnitus up, at least for awhile, so hope it really works.
I think the idea is to put your index finger over your middle finger, and basically slide the index off the middle finger so it clicks into the back of your head, almost like snapping your fingers. From what I read it provides the tiny hairs in your eardrums with another sound so that they temporarily reset, but the ringing will quickly return.
That is a good tip for others, but in my case it only lessens the noise for a few seconds. But thank you for spreading this info out cause I know it helps other people 👍
This might seem weird but I find the eeeeeee's comforting. I don't think I would like the silence without it. I've heard people get really annoyed with it and have to always be listening to music or something, I just never understood why.
I've got it about the same as you, usually doesn't bother me unless I'm feeling unwell or otherwise irritated. If you want to experience temporary actual silence - press the heels of your hands against your ears, and gently thump the back of your head with your fingers for about 30 seconds. Should sound like you're underwater. It sort of resets your hearing for a little while!
18000 hertz, which doesn't seem right to me but I was going down from 20k and couldn't hear that or 19k so going from silence to not-silence was pretty definitive

Fucking tinnitus. Constant tone for several hours then one ear decides to get louder than the other for a bit.
Zcarto
I hate the times the tinnitus decides to intensify the EEEEEEEEEEEE x10 for about 10 seconds and then go back to eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

That's the sound of electronics humming, can't get away from it these days.

If it only lasts a moment, that’s a different phenomenon that happens to everyone sometimes.
keyblader1985
I don't have it, but I've heard that it can help if you thump your backside around where your neck meets your head.

Thump it hard enough to knock yourself unconscious?

Some forms respond to that. Not all do, but worth giving a try.

I literally got 5 seconds of my tinnitus clearing up last night and I cried. It came back, but that brief respite was amazing.

If it was a constant, I could probably get used to it. But it's random and unpredictable, which forces it to the front of my consciousness.

Well, for what it's worth, a perfectly silent forest is terrifying... I'd rather hear eeeees then for it to all of a sudden go quiet on me.

I did the same and ended up yelling "F*ck me" I hate tinnitus.

Yeah. My phone started staticing out at 15500.
Scruffy2
It would be fun to get an actual hearing test, but I live in the US, that costs money
gentlemansprophet
20,000 hz is typically the upper limit for human ears.
Scruffy2
I've read that's true in general, but up to 26,000 does happen.
Scruffy2
I misunderstood the assignment, I was seeing what I could hear, not matching the tone of my tinnitus
