#3 These blinds are terrible. Unless they are perfectly taunt with the perfect amount of lighting, you can see out of them about 3 feet with any sort of detail. Otherwise, you might be able to see some blobs moving. It's also colder because it's perforated, and animals can still see you if you move too much/quickly. Just use a normal one with a black interior and wear dark clothes.

Yup, if I see traffic coming to a significant slowdown way ahead of me, I immediately start slowing and check my rearview to see if the guy behind me slows down too and I leave a large gap in front of me. I find it rather uncomfortable to be stopped on a freeway with nobody stopped behind me.

The blue car behind following behind the truck looks like it was going a similar speed based on the distance between them. Although they managed to avoid a collision, they were going too fast also. Either couldn't see the stopped traffic or were looking ahead of the truck.

If the hand holding the bread slips or something, you can instantly slow down or stop turning the other hand. Versus a power tool that saw will just keep going and that is how you lose fingers.

Just remember it's all about spreading the force of impact through a longer period of time. That's what crumple zones do, in auto and road barrier design. Being able to move forward, (either with no car in front of him, or moving through the air) helps. Of course, we are excluding the flying car's landing impact. But that was a nice 360 with landing on his feet. A great example here actually how the impact is broken down into two smaller releases of inertia. I'd say "yeah, it helped".

There's *some* truth to that, especially since it's the rear side that flips up, thus absorbing a lot of the energy. But a driver can still get jerked around quite violently from flipping.

This is a huge part. What everyone should learn is that stopping on the highway (while not at fault usually) is almost just as dangerous. Need to try to get out of the way and flash etc, be ready to get chased by horny trucks.

The fiat panda 4x4 is one of the most capable vehicles when it comes to slightly tricky conditions. Muddy tracks, wet fields, icy roads and more can be conquered with relative ease but anything where ground clearance, speed or street cred are required, look elsewhere.

As a Canadian who has lived in very snowy hilly places, the white car doesn't know how to drive on slippy hills. They should have very lightly been on gas and wiggle the wheels back and forth to see if they could get out of the rut they were in. Kind of serpentine movement. If it doesnt work, reverse a tiny bit and try again. If you spin your wheels you make these slippy ruts and first step is to get out. Slowly increase your speed enough to get a bit of momentum but not so much (like other car)

Could also be driving technique. Notice the white car is doing nothing but spinning, using too much throttle the other one spins almost not at all. On slippery roads you want static friction, not sliding friction. A very light touch on the throttle does best. I was in college in a very cold snowy place. The foreign students tried just flooring it to get up hills and basically made their own ice. People barely touching the gas made it up just fine.

It was pretty irritating watching them creeping up a hill at like 1 MPH with the wheels spinning at 50 MPH; they were fucking up the roads for everyone, turning the snow pack (which you could get some traction on) into solid ice which you couldn't get up in anything short of chains.

Range Rover driver probably has it set to "Sport" mode instead of "off road/snow/ice" mode. Daily driving road tyres, no chains/spikes. Much heavier. The Panda will drive up prettty much anything that will support it's weight, regardless of conditions. I don't even like Fiats usually, but the panda 4x4 is a great little car. Shame I'm too tall to fit in them.

I feel you on the last part. I'm 6'8"(203) and it's rough to find cars that I'm comfortable in. I'm a mechanic as well, I get to find all the stuff I can't fit in. It's gotten better in recent years, not many cars are too small, but I'm in the US. Reg's make everything massive now.

That hasn't been my experience once you have a good bit of snow on the ground, or ice underneath, and have to go uphill, like in this video. Sure they're good 99% of the time, but that 1% you will be in a situation like this.

My dad had a 34HP Panda around 40 years ago. It was the worst car he had. Suspension hard as a rock, seats uncomfortable and the "backseat" was 2 tubes with some cloth between them. He sold it after a year and got another Citroën... the 4x4 had at least good 4x4 (made in Austria). Then Fiat made really bad cars. They started to rust on the leaflet....

I was shocked how we got more deliveries when it snowed. People really have no respect for service workers - I still got stiffed on some deliveries where it took me 16 minutes to get up their uncleared driveway.

Sort of. Almost no-one in the UK has seasonal tyres (of either kind) bc it just doesn't get hot/cold enough to warrant them. "All seasons" are the default and depending on where exactly you live you have to go out of your way a fair bit to get anything else.

I run UHP summer tyres all year round these days. I've got a set of full-on snow tyres in the garage, but now I just don't bother going out on the two or three days it snows or gets silly icy. The snow tyres were absolutely game changing when it snowed regularly, all the plebs lined up on the main road, and I could rattle down the side roads (until bottoming out depth).
