Ah I see. Despite the ban by the king of Spain in 1510 some conversos did come to the New World and continued to practice the faith they supposedly renounced. What makes this sadder to me is that many of the same community went east instead to Palestine under the Ottomans. Descendants of Sephardic jews (even if most kept their new Catholic faith) that make up the TNMS speaking culture in the Southwest are directly tied to people of Palestine.

The Israeli Army allows for foreigners to serve, even in elite units (such as the CSAR unit she was a part of), but flags them a sort of "lone soldier" making simultaneously members and not... effectively letting Israel have their cake and eat it too by using them, but claiming plausible deniability and lack of command chain for anything they do.
