Catman

Hey good for you, Bruce! Self awareness is a huge step

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This was part of the reason Catwoman left Batman at the alter. She realized that for once in his life he was happy, she was happy and because of this their drive to fight crime was slowing. She realized the world needs Batman, and left him.

Sadly, catwoman didn't know this was a plot by Bane to mentally break Batman. The person who was working with Catwoman and put the thought into her head was working for Bane and his syndicate. This lead Batman to a dark time where he went after criminals without evidence, like Mr Freeze and threw them in prison. Only to come to his senses and being coincidentally on Jury duty, clearing Freezes name as Bruce.

IIRC, isn't this more or less canonical? Like, Batman was getting to a happy place at one point and was set to marry catwoman and all, and somebody proceeded to tear his life down because they knew the world needed Batman, and that if Bruce ever became truly happy, then he wouldn't be the Batman we needed anymore.

I like how Tom King's Batman run actually addressed this. Selina left Bruce at the altar because she was afraid if he was happy he would no longer be able to be Batman. In the end their relationship became deeper and they both realised that's not why he was Batman, and that he could have a family, be happy and still be the Batman he needs to be.

...Did Tom King wrote this?

I'm binging kevin's comics right now...

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That won't take long

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, but I thoroughly enjoyed them. Spreading the good word to my cohorts.

Look, Catwoman--if you want to be there for the good times, you've also gotta be there for the bad.

...the bat times...

Stole the comment I came here to leave.

Trick question, there are only bat times!

I read some of the other ones on your website. The streaming wars ones really got me, and the “new hobby” ones are spot on! Love your sense of humor!

heh, a great follow-up!

Is this some kind of rule in DC that women not happy with their relationship go to ivy? First Quinn and now Catwoman.

3 years ago | Likes 206 Dislikes 1

She has nice fronds

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She's a better frond than an enemy

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Her frondship is valuable at times like these

Fronderoonyroo

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With fronds like these, who needs enemies? ?

Talking to your plant is a time honored therapeutic

I'm a botanist not a phycologist, Jim

3 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

TIL that a phycologist studies algae

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I mean, one of them IS psychologist and she still runs to Ivy. Maybe this is why people like to buy so many plants...

She's the rogue gallery's dealer.

3 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 1

Well, there was that time she teamed up with the Floronic Man to flood Gotham with cheap, effective weed...

Right before Batman decapitated poor Woodrue because "Marijuana is a gateway drug! Reefer madness!!!!"

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

If this ain’t canon it should be

3 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

In my reality, it IS cannon.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

That explains a whole lot.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Wait ... Does that mean if I go into drug dealing I'd have to develop people skills?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I mean. Not no

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you are selling a product that alters peoples brain chemistry, having people skills to deal with clients is recommended, as some of them will have altered brain chemistry when you interact with them. Either figure a way to not have to deal too directly with them, or get people skills to upsell, charm and de-escalate, as the situation requires!

And Quinn is the only one that's licensed

3 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Kinda. I found out that she had a PhD but no MD (As far as I am aware.) so she doesn't have a license to practice.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Want she practicing when she met joker?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, she was his doctor.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She's also a whack job. Maybe Ivy is, like, Harley's translator.

Ever meet a psych major that wasn't crazy? Cuz I haven't

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Her track record as a therapist is spotty as best

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It's a good thing she's got a side-gig then

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But who does a therapist go to for therapy?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In this case? Batman

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Serious answer: Ivy is surprisingly insightful, and innately maternal. Harley and Selina both tend to go to her when they need someone who can tell them what they need to hear in a way that won’t be emotionally crippling.

3 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 0

Also, she may be an ecoterrorist, but she's one of the "most" balanced individuals in the roster (which by itself is quite relative). Also she's the mom friend.

3 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

The more time goes on, the more Poison Ivy becomes an anti-hero.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I mean, who hasn't had the occasional eco-terrorist thought?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

People talk about how magneto has gone from total villain to neutral hero over the last few years as we've seen his "excessiveness" toward ending persecution and destroying fascism become increasingly justified (and written more delicately) with the actual fascist proliferation and oppression happening in real life. I think something similar is happening with Ivy's writing as we get deeper into climate change, and more people are realizing how serious and scary it is.

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

It's kinda like "okay they hurt the wrong people sometimes, but they arnt bad, occasionally they make really good points too"

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Also Ivy had had several stories where it shows she focuses on those who actually contribute to climate change and when in need (such as no man’s land) she will choose to protect innocents who cannot protect themselves.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"Be vulnerable! Tell me you're feelings!" "No not like that!"

Yeah, doesn't have the same ring as "I am vengeance," does it?

Well, he did go and trauma-dump during their designated fight-flirt time

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

That's fair!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Batman has bad social awareness apparently. Right words, wrong time.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I've heard men's emotions compared to women's body hair. Totally natural, but often seen as shocking or unnatural. Like not shaving your armpits and going out in public with a sleeveless outfit can be interpreted as trying to make a statement of some kind, or an attack on gender norms. Men and women have been pushed to become caricatures of genders to the degree that natural seems unnatural. "A man crying when sad, something is wrong here!", "A woman with armpit hair, is she militant feminist!?"

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Gender itself is unnatural. I just don't like shaving it takes too much time!!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 8

Yeah, I think one of the biggest confusion about gender is that people for get that gender comes from the Latin genus, meaning kind, sort, or type or class of noun. It's just a word for category, not a word for penis or vagina specifically, though that is a way you could categories something. So in many ways human's have made gender unnatural, it's like we pulled the wings off of butterflies, then categorized butterflies as a wingless creature. In a way it would be true, they don't have wings -

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

- but only because we pulled them off, or taught them to shave those areas, or taught them expressing emotions wasn't what they should do in their category. It's so silly to me how often people who claim gender norms are natural, are also the first and most aggressive to culturally enforce gender norms. If they're natural, then we would they need to be culturally enforced?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You make a well informed point, its just a way to categorize people. was speaking in the aspect of how gender is a social construct we created around the idea of sex. Sex is not gender, but people still confuse that, considering i was down voted immediately

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I upvoted you. I've been seeing a weird new trend of things getting downvoted that don't make sense to be down voted. Sadly all it takes is one or two people to downvote something early and other people might not see it, so it'll stay downvoted.
