the war on cats has started
Fiberfar
The cats should ally with the Emus, as soon as possible.
InternationalNitWit
The cats were starting their uprising. The aussies noticed first...
loshea
I guess OP doesn't remember when the US had the jackrabbit drives.
GoodBit
It's sad, unfortunately if their numbers go unchecked they cause havoc on other populations
ragazzino
Thumper and Peter Cottontail are next
Immf
Will they be burnt and ashes burried? Because, providing they're healthy... 2 million cats would provide a lot of meat for zoos and such.
TheUglyGuy
Not to mention a whole host of oriental restaurants.
Alwaysthebridesmaid
Ok after reading the article this seems reasonable
ScubaSteffi
They'll probably win, we lost the emu war and emu's aren't as smart as cats

Let's just hope it doesn't play out like The Emu War.

Invasive species that has a drastic negative impact on wildlife. It needs to be done.
andkorn
Yes, but what are they going to do about the 23 million invasive humans on that continent?
BangForTheBuck
Are you really equating human and animal lives? Humans created the problem and now they are fixing it.
andkorn
humans, cats, rats, sheep, rabbits, and basically all non-marsupial mammals are invasive on that continent. My humor is not for everyone.
BangForTheBuck
They are non native, yes. But not all are invasive. The rabbit problem has largely been dealt with so far.
tossingEwoksIntoLakesOfMethane
wtf! with all the other crazy hit that lives in auz, they're going after cats?
ScubaSteffi
They're driving native species to extinction.
tossingEwoksIntoLakesOfMethane
sweet adorable fluffy cats? i don't think so!
FarkasMacTavish
Considering that sweet adorable fluffy cats have evolved over millions of years to be ruthless killing machines...

BangForTheBuck
It's this sort of thing that leads cat owners to think that their cats killing native animals is cute. It's really not.
FarkasMacTavish
'zactly.
