Say hi to J. He's a good boy.
His ex-owner kicked him down their apartment steps and out into the street last night. He was done with J piddling whenever he walked near. I got a phone call from the jerk's girlfriend, saying she was sitting on the curb with J, he wasn't allowed back in the apartment, could I please help?
Say bye to J- he's going to a home with a GSD rescue, to start a new life, away from jerks who kick their dogs down steps.

That's good work you do there, OP. As for the GF? Ex-owner might just treat her the same way, so she might want to think about Plan B.
