I read thatvthey have a higher framerate in their vision, so movement is percieved slower, and hence no rush to move until somthing is close

I think maybe they just can't perceive the speeds modern transportation moves at. So they constantly misjudge.
Notice the car, but can't tell how fast it is, but it's only steadily drawing closer. Not like it saw them, and then started sprinting.
Then it gets close and they realize, "Oh horror! This car has been sprinting at me the whole time! I must flee!"
They could turn around, but there's no time! They have to run as fast as they can! (anyways IDK just spitballing)
