This is the perfect amount of dramatic for this situation. Kids shouldn't feel the need to repress their harmless expressions of having good fun with family.
I'm not angry but do feel pity that someone seems to have pissed in your childhood Cheerios & suggested that life isn't meant to be enjoyed in unabashed wholesome pleasures. My whole point is that it's okay to have fun expressing passion & you perceive anger from that comment.
I've eaten a steak today, not as raw as I like but still a good meal. The garlic bread was a nice touch & sweet corn with herbs made a good side. Been a few days since I had chips; at least half a year since my last cake.
I don't see how my comment was positive or negative. You seem to have projected negative intent to it. I mean, I was an overdramatic kid and it was not welcome, but I would never want him to be any less. I hope someone gives him the validation I never got.
Overdramatic is ofen used as a negative descriptor to invalidate ones feelings as an unacceptable amount of expression. It is frequently said to children to discourage & devalue their self expression & acknowledgement of their feelings. This child isn't being overdramatic, he's being dramatic - appropriately. I can see you might not have intended it as negative as you may have gotten used to hearing this, thinking this is an accurate description but it isn't. You deserved better, as does he.

You seem angry, have you eaten an entire cake yet today? Or perhaps just some pure Cheeto dust by the kilogram?
