I have 14 days of PTO per year and burn through it each year when I get sick to prevent spreading disease (~7 days for flu or Covid symptoms) so it's hard to call anyone on the "free child care" part. The issue is refusing to protect their child and everyone around them.

Come over to the developed world. We have unlimited sick leave because we recognise that we shouldn't force sick people to work, both to prevent the spread of disease and to ensure those people can actually recover from their illness properly.
Alternatively, force the US to adopt that policy when the government falls and you rebuild it.
