I’ve wondered how many single issue voters out there would potentially consider *other* issues and vote differently, if their head weren’t so far up their ass. Like ammosexuals and pro-forced birthers.
I've spoken to multiple coworkers who said they didn't like Harris's stance on Palestine. Don't get me wrong, because it is a valid criticism. I hated it, too. But they based their entire argument upon it, and acted like Trump wasn't somehow just as bad, if not even worse. Because here we are with this dickhead and he's started multiple wars in under a year. Who could've seen that one coming? (Except for anyone who pays attention to this crap.) Rest assured, though, I will do my part and vote.
That's one way of looking at it, or 5 ways, an even simpler way is to ask yourself if the Administration is doing a good enough job to be re-elected. If they are, vote for them, if they're not, vote against them. Just a word of advice, if you think this Administration is doing a good job then you seriously need mental care, really need mental health support..

I was being downvoted because a wave of downvote bots went through the post just before it made front page. All the comments had constant downvotes to -1 that stopped the moment the post made FP.

The "single issue" thing would be easier to get rid of if you guys had had an election system that doesn't inevitably converge to two parties. Once you have half a dozen parties (or more) to choose from, a single issue will at best leave you with two parties you still have to decide between. So you need at least one more issue. And I think that going up from one issue to two is a larger step than going up from two to five or ten.
Idk, when the single issue is the Epstein files, that kinda simplifies things enormously. Character matters, almost more than anything else. It tells you how someone is actually going to act once in office. And when someone has a history like Trump, there is no reason he should have been anywhere close to public office. He's doing exactly what his record predicted.
Back when "character" was decided by whether they had a 5 o'clock shadow, or misspoke a word in a speech, that was a bit overboard. But in the current climate? Yeah, character means a LOT.
On the other hand, multiparty systems have the issue that they split votes. France and Germany are at a very high risk of being taken over by far-right fascist parties even though only about 25% of the voters actually support them, because the left-wing vote is split between multiple small parties.
They knew the system they were building could be broken by political parties, but they had just built an entirely new system of government and figured they'd be able to use the amendment system to update things as they grew to accommodate parties as they ended up forming/affecting things rather than try to predict them ahead of time.
But that adaptation didn't happen, it was just left as is and parties formed and broke it like they knew it would.
They already have proven they're much MUCH more committed to the democratic process than Republicans. Democrats actually respond to what their constituents vote for, & have already implemented policies (like For the People etc) that are intended to make voting easier & more accessible. They have a strong stance on voting rights.

Once a FPTP system gets down to two parties it can't increase the number because that means splitting the vote and both losing.
The US system is worse than most parliamentary systems because it was built to only work if political parties didn't exist and those are inevitable.
