#5 what about TriSarabottoms?

#24 Oh this is good.

#9 Factfulness by Hans Rosling is one of the best books one could ever read - Free on Kindle Unlimited if you're into that, Local libraries, etc. etc. I bought mine in paperback and Kindle because I wanted to give it a forever home. Factfulness-Reasons-World-Things-Better-ebook/dp/B0756J1LLV/">https://www.amazon.com/Factfulness-Reasons-World-Things-Better-ebook/dp/B0756J1LLV/
Hans Rosling is this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVimVzgtD6w which is absolutely worth a watch.

#36 And remember folks this didn’t just apply to artists. Even minor wealth used to mean you hired “guy that was good at horse stuff” to basically just take care of horses. It was perfectly normal & common to hire and support a whole crew of people to just do their thing competently. A huge portion of the drain and stress of “modern” living is the pressure for every person to live according to standards set by people that had whole communities built around doing specific tasks well as a career.

#24, ya know…. Sigh. That was good
NeverEnoughFoxes
#31 Now THIS would make an excellent Hallmark movie!

#2 Trust me many geologists also suck at maths

#3 Discovering I am Neurodivergent in my late 30s has fucked my brainhole. That said; you good OP?

#4 The best marriages are the ones where both parties think they got the better end of the deal.
Munchman347
#9 Next page, 'Declining Freedoms, political representations, spending power, kids safety around Republicans, etc...' 'But the DOW was briefly over 50,000! Just eat more lettuce!'...
AbolishNuance
Even that page mostly lists things that are becoming less bad instead of good. Nuclear arms, slavery are unnecessary, hiv was and is mismanaged, pollution is over produced, and if I recall correctly the author of that book took too many trips on epstein's jet. Fuck steven pinker.
EverNotRelevant
#50 same deal with the emphasis on nonviolent resistance
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
#7... Okay, I have a lot of questions about these. But the one that confuses me the most is... WTF is up with the Hindu one?
ThinkThisOut
So Ken wants to create a system where businesses compete to provide goods and services - instead of a single entity that funded by tax dollars! It’s a brilliant idea! I mean that’s capitalism, but I don’t care what you call it anymore but damn we should do that!

#14 Luigi showed a perfectly good way to deal with this kind of anger.
Omicron416
I don't know about the "perfectly" part ... he got caught.
InFineNilAdmirari
Well, he dealt with his anger, and surely dealt with the anger of some others. If there were more Luigis, maybe that kind of anger would dissipate for most people, who knows?

#46 AuDHD adds in multiple spiders and labels while also trying to organize all the things you aren’t getting done on time and how low you will be.
Relative level of “giftedness” can make all of that HD (plus gives options for fun things like comparing arachnids to insects etc), make the labels correct, and expand all the lists and capacity to do all of those things at once but doesn’t really help resolve any of the issues.
DMSledge
To anyone thinking some of this sounds familiar, get diagnosed. Take care of yourself. Don't push yourself through burnout for decades until your body and mind just stop.
frozenlake247
Heck, a lot can be done just by recognizing that these “symptoms” indicate a person is running a fundamentally different style of nervous/behavioral architecture. Making the effort to learn and test what support, coping, and “alternative methods” common to a given neurotype (not to mention talking to the community) can not only provide much of the benefit of an “official” label it can also make the diagnostic process MUCH easier and more reliable/accurate.
frozenlake247
Unfortunately a LOT of the diagnostic professionals don’t do much to help (or even try) identifying actual traits or seeing past/removing masking if the person hasn’t done most of the work etc for themselves.
Even when they put in the work for a person that still can’t see “it” in themselves it often seems to contribute to “imposter syndrome” and folks resenting and feeling like the label “made them like this”.

#19 Classic gramma rage baiting. Going on about proper gramma whilst sneakily making errors and using something absolutely ridiculous like u instead place of you.

#40 Personally i have adopted "Ladies, Gentlemen, and those of unspecified Gender". I don't even remember where i got it from, but i know i got it from somewhere.
YoureWaifuAShit
i think i'm leaning toward "warlords and poets". my go-to is 'gamers' because it's perfectly all-inclusive but a false dichotomy is funnier.

#33 yes yes, the time knife. Everyone’s seen it
isetprettygirlsonfire
#2 geologist, can confirm.
ThingsThatDontJustifyGenocide
Couple'a fashy things slipped in, in the middle, huh?
Ack210
#4 Actualy the secret is realizing that things change. Sometimes it's 60/40, sometimes it's 30/70, and sometimes it's 40/40 and the other 20% doesn't get done. Being able to accept that resolves a lot of conflicts.
StrokeFlavoured
#9Yes, when was the last time someone was wheeled. Surely the world is a better place now.
frozenlake247
#47 this movie needs a conversation where the group of reasonable survivors and hardcore enthusiasts that make it through the first weeks are sitting talking about the phenomenon and all independently coming to the same point “so many dead to basic hygiene issues and failure to deal with splatter”.
If being bit infects you then getting covered in gore hitting them with a hammer is going to do the trick. Either it gets in eyes/mouth or any of the myriad little scratches etc from daily activity.
somethingnotyettaken
I'd go for a TV show over a movie so you have time to get to know different groups from different fandoms. Watch what happens when a charismtic SotD guy stumbles into a group of TWDers and manages to convince them they can just pull the face, make the noise, and walk among them.
frozenlake247
“…And walk among them.” Until they get a horrible eye infection from the rotting face mask (hard to preserve or treat without changing the smell too much and drawing attention), stumble half blind into one of the hoard, and inadvertently shout in pain from damage to the infected area.
But yeah, fully agreed a show would be better than movie.

#2 These should pretty much overlap for me. Although I know when to stop drinking.

#19 didn’t read the top text either. Went straight to the panels, but I did think: reply with “you’re”!

#14 *slams desk* thank you! Been trying to articulate this for months

They have normalized suffering.
Gotcha44
Likewise. I have a sneaky suspicion there are many of us out there.
frozenlake247
Problem is with the doing it “quietly” part. If anyone that knows a person more than casually doesn’t know how a person feels on a topic like this they’re part of the problem. Being mad is as much harm as good if it’s not accompanied by action, it just makes people miserable and leads to despair & inaction. About the smallest possible action is talking (not just bitching, at least talking about passive support for greater action) and building community and “group” momentum/sympathy/support.
Rainmaker217
Unfortunately many of us are disincentivized to talk about this by HR and a cultural hegemony of 'it's just the way it is', so any attempt at talking about it is met with shrugs and dispassion at best, and loss of job/insurance at worst. A lot of the time it is not at all feasible to open up about it. The pressure to play along is real and high. Luckily enough, the momentum is growing everywhere, mostly because having a job does not actually guarantee survival anymore.
frozenlake247
Who said anything about talking about it at work? I thought it was pretty well established coworkers shouldn’t be treated as friends/family. Even if you’re close with coworkers you treat any time on the corp clock like your in police station and don’t say shit that can be used against you.
Rainmaker217
What else did you mean, where else would you talk about it to do anything but circlejerk? People outside of work sure as shit aren't going to actively help you, they are more liable to put you down because they're in the same exact position - if you can just follow their advice to keep your head down and run the treadmill, they should be able to do the same. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. We HAVE to break it open at work and unionize where possible, or take it to politics. UBI for all.
