That’s cool and all, but I’m just picturing a final destination scenario of that short circuiting while under a car and ending up like those hydraulic press shorts
As an able-bodied person who just got one of those bed frames that lifts the bed: it’s unnecessary but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t help with the back pain
So my father in law has severe RA and is a mechanic. He looked into onenof these a few years back and it was 12k. Now I say a few years back and it could be closer to 10, o really dont recall. I just remember showing him a similar video, the next week he told me looked into them and they were expensive.
After a very brief search, I found one nearly identical to this one for well under $1,000 USD, and another that looked almost exactly the same for $2,400 USD.
If you're reasonably handy, you could probably just build one for less than that.
Last I looked the linear actuators they use on dentists chairs and stuff are like $50 on eBay. I reckon if you can weld and have access to a basic workshop you could build one of these over the weekend for less than $200 in parts.
You may joke but that is the actual price of similarly capable devices for disabled people just because they adding some simple motor and controls and a battery.

Nobody who actually works on stuff in their driveway is this clean.

Yea these cost like 10k. My dad is a mechanic and I wanted to get one of these for him. No chance of that ever happening.
somnif
Only about 3k for this model, but yeah, still out of reach for most folks sadly.

That thing is way too high to get under many vehicles that aren't lifted one way or another.

Legal for a limbo competition?
huffnpuff72
I don't slide under cars often, but ive got some linear actuators ....
JuniperJupiter
You could win limbo contests with that! :D

Oh fuck though, what happens when you accidentally press that button while you're under the car?

Maybe it would be cheaper to get a toolbox that can collapse down.

Mmm that sound brutally expensive for what it does. If it’s true, I may have found a new side business

Tony Stark built one in a cave ... with scraps!

Cool as it is, 12k or 10k is ridiculous for that.

This particular one is a bit under 3k$. Now if it were red and said Snap-On somewhere, then we'd be talking 50k at least.
