With things that bend I'm always wondering how long it can hold the bent shape before it will no longer bend back. So many things I fear ever bending because I'm afraid it will never be perfectly unbent ever again.

My brother has one of these, and it actually does work! However, it's not the most comfortable, and he prefers rigid or inflatable kayaks is to it. I don't know how much he's used it, so I can't speak to it's durability

So, you still have to hike in something that weighs the same as a boat. You have to spend lots of time assembling something that isn't as comfortable as a boat. It is also not as safe as a boat. .....who thought this was a good idea?

i think you mean disposable. while the video shows it in an overcast day most of its use will likly happen during sunny days where over a few used the heavily stressed plastic will become brittle and shatter.

I have some PC roofing that have been out there for 15 years over my backyard terrace. when i walk on it, it flexes as it did when new. It feels really weird because it is quite soft. clear as glass.

Friend of mine has one of these, uses semi-regularly and has for years. As suspect as these may appear I believe they do actually last a good while.

Looks to be about $275 on Amazon. Not sure why you'd get this as opposed to another non-folding kayak for roughly the same price. Sure, this one folds and is probably more lightweight, but there's problems with it. Eventually it's going to brittle up and you're gunna snap the folding joins, create leaky joints, etc.

Portability and storage space. They fit in a closet in an apartment. Proper hardshell kayaks are absolutely the way to go if you have the storage space for one and ability to transport it, but the various portable kayaks serve a purpose, and some are quite good. Tucktec (the one in the video) would not be my recommendation, though.

That's why I went with Pakayak instead. Heavier/bulkier, but faster paddling boat and MUCH stronger. The gaskets are all easily replaceable, but in 3 years I haven't had a leak.

It will probably be in a landfill by the end of the year. I could see the use in this if you were a backpacker, and knew you were gonna have to travel over water miles into your trip. But you definitely shouldn't buy this to use in replacement of a tradition kayak or canoe.

Tucktecs do float, but they are still the cheapest, least durable, and most prone to problems of the various folding plastic kayaks. In particular the sides are prone to developing an outward bow in the middle with use. Oru and Nortik are significantly better, but also significantly more expensive.
