Finished product first!
I got so many semi angry replies last time I submitted an album to DIY because I didn't start with the finished product... so, here it is! :D
For night time operations...
This is sort of what it looked like before.
The two bathrooms are right next to each other and before the renovation one was only a tiny guest toilet, 1,6 x 0,9 meters in size. The wall separating the two spaces was torn down and a new one was built out of leca blocks. The new size bathroom is roughly twice as big as the guest toilet was before.
Dad has all the cool toys!
Conveniently there was a floor drain from a bathtub in the space annexed from the larger bathroom, that's where the new shower is installed.
Suddenly a hole...
There's a hollow space underneath the bathroom concrete floor, we didn't expect that...
The "collage"
This is the only picture in the entire album that is taken with a real camera, this is very close to what the tiles and mosaic actually look like.
A horror show of sorts.
That's primer on the floor in preparation for the floor heating that is cast in screed.

Preparing for screed casting
Screed is in place. The square is where the shower is now.
Extra slope in the shower done by hand with sort of regular concrete. Next time we will use screed for that too though because it worked perfectly on the rest of the floor.
Sticky smelly expensive mess.
In Sweden we have to employ a rather complicated system to wet proof our wet rooms or the insurance wont cover any damage to the wet room or surrounding rooms. I wont bore you with the details but it's expensive and time consuming...
Finally, some tiling!
Gotta get the bottom row perfectly level, once that's done the rest is easy.
Once the bottom row is set perfectly level the rest of the tiling is pretty easy and quickly done.
Grouting. I actually looked for the kind of grout used in the US because it seems to make much less of a mess than this but I couldn't get a hold of any in time. I would have loved to not spend 6 hours rubbing the haze of the rather rough surface of the wall tiles...
Washed once or twice.
Rubbed and polished for hours and hours. :E
A dry run
Just testing the layout and pattern trying to figure out where would be the best place to start setting the tiles.
After starting in the wrong place and having to start over I came to the conclusion that starting around the drain was the only sensible thing to do.
More grouting..
Towel heater was the first piece of equipment to be installed.
