Maybe it's not a really unpopular opinion, I've seen other people voice their dislike. I am/was a big Star Wars fan. But May the 4th is rememberance day where I live. Where we remember the people who died in the second world war and in millitary conflicts afterwards. And I dislike the hyper commercialization of that date. I'm aware this is a national and not a global holiday, but I still dislike it.

But it's not a hyper commercialization of your Remembrance Day. It's an unrelated thing that just happens to be at the same date, and I guarantee you every day will have people thinking of it in festive terms and others in sorrow.

Like I said, I'm aware that it's not directly related to memorial day. I simply dislike that it falls on a day that holds such significance for me.

I can understand people saying "May the 4th..." as a daft joke, but I don't understand people treating it like an actual holiday.

I think it's mostly Disney's marketing department pushing social media sites like Imgur to adopt trophies and push their content. Likewise putting release dates for their own content around the same date. I don't blame them. The catchphrase is good, but I don't like it regardless.
