His umbrella appears to be wooden though.
Most umbrellas have a metal tip, which lead some to unnecessarily fear a lightning strike.
It didn't have to be because he had metal on him lighting struck many people without an umbrella or metal items on them
But then the original point of the cartoon would have been moot, hence my pedantic, humorless comment.
The only context in this post is the rain, it could have been a coincidence that he got struck after the umbrella
