I see a lot of Band of Brothers posts pop up lately so I thought I'd share some pics I took a couple weeks ago when I visited the Normandy Beaches and Foy, Belgium.

All the landing beaches on a bronze placque, we were at Pointe Du Hoc at that time hence the missing patina (people like to point out where they are)

This part was shelled relentlessly, these craters are all a good 4-5 meters deep.

The French are known for their wine, but we also had a great beer selection ar our disposal.

The Omaha beach memorial, honestly a bit disappointing.

Memorial of an actual event at Sainte-Mère-Église, where a paratrooper got stuck and had to play dead for several hours.

Bangalores ! People might remember these from Saving Private Ryan.

The forests of Foye were very eerie, there were at least 30 foxholes like these, still semi-intact.

In the middle of the forest, between all the foxholes, was an improvised memorial. It felt very strange to stand where great men stood (and fell) all those years ago.

DC-3s. Man, if ever there was a more robust plane built. It wasn't the best of the best, it just was; a plane that could get the job done.
