Science Fair project findings are 100% accurate

1 kid and 1 parent does not a statistically significant sample size make, kid.

I see your dad's hand in this.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My kids science fair is tomorrow and it's like are going to Disney World when it's over, we are that excited for it to be done.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

90% of parents yell?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This kid should have gotten an "A" lol

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dave Barry once said that when a school needs money, they should threaten to hold a Science Fair unless everyone sends in $10. Pure Genius!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

smoking causes lung cancer and everyone hates the science fair

"It's a cup of dirt. Just give me an F and let me go home."

12 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Well, its a CUP with DIRT in it. I call it CUP of DIRT.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

:( But I love Science all the time :(

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A+

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually loved the science fair! My dad was excellent at taking over so I could watch cartoons

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Solution: Volcano

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How many parents does this kid have to make 90% an option?

12 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

like 10 ?

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Lol

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Half-baked idea of very dubious merit." This is the dad's science project hidden in mom handwriting

Sooo... these aren't just thing in movies and tv-series? You actually do these in school? How often?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Once a year so far. Last year I had one in 3rd and 5th grade doing them. This year only one in 4th. They are due in March bleh

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Almost every year for middle and high school. So 7 times.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can attest to this...don't make kids enter. Let it be a voluntary thing.

12 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 1

I really like how procrastination was added on later.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Here it is only mandatory for 5th graders, optional for everyone else, and they can have buddies. My 1st grader is doing it with 3 friends.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The schoolboard requires everyone do both science and social studies fair here :(

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That seems unproductive, they should let the ones that wanna do it shine, and have the other kids delve into their own interests

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It also consists of usually 4 grades. So if it isn't your thing, you're screwed for the class.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yikes.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

social studies fair?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's like a huge research project with a model and board like science fair.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We just wrote research papers...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I envy you.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

are you from Texas cos that's what they do over here?...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, Louisiana!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh same here then...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This Texan can attest to the horrors of middle school science fairs

Croatian TV show, "Školski sat". The anchor was pregnant. Ironically, she was talking about the importance of oxygen.

Doge has ruined me. I thought "Much Turmoil" was a sentence.

Much Comic. Not sans alone.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought everyone hates was a sentence too.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Much ience.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got mad at the thumbnail at first, and then realised it wasn't Doge.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Embrace the Doge, for he be a prophet for the Great Helix fossil sent to prepare us for the time of testing in which man shall be tempted...

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

The fucking Helix fossil, you jerk I'm already dying from that damn stream!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ah yes I see we have a follower of Dome in our midst

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My kid's science projects are going to be on point.

12 years ago | Likes 218 Dislikes 5

I was judging a science fair and this kid made a functioning rail gun. A RAIL GUN! I wanted to go home and make it for myself.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On a PowerPoint? I didn't think they'd let you do that

12 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

That's how most symposium style fairs are. Some still use the boards, but a lot have PPT as well.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

can we have chemistrykids that put all other kids' science projects to shame

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When you do it for them..

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Collaboration is key. They won't get off easy.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My dad is a civil engineering professor. My project was to test the structural integrity of different bridge truss designs. I just had (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

fun crushing model bridges. (2/2)

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

If you didn't mention the professor part, I would think you were my brother.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My dad and I did the same thing, but with pasta. My dad is a bit of an over-achiever.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Susan is a very perceptive girl

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait, isn't "are" correct there?

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Example of when "are" would have been correct: "15 hours of family time are sacrificed on average" but that is passive voice and "bad".

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The subject was "average" which is singular. Is is correct.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually the subject was "family time", not "average". You fail at throwing stones my friend. Still singular though.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

'Of family time' describes the kind of hours. 'Of 15 hours' describes the average. Average is the subject of the sentance.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IIRC the subject was singular and thus "is" should be used.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"average" was the subject :D

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

How is 15 hours singular? It's fifteen hours of family time. Not an hour of family time.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes you're right, that is more than one hour but the word that is subject (average) was singular this determined the correct grammar.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Subject was "family time" not "average". If you judge him for grammar make sure you know what you're talking about. Still singular though.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well I ain't gonna argue with that. Have a cookie (upvote).

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Finally, someone actually needed this for science.

12 years ago | Likes 1249 Dislikes 3

Heh, 1080p.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used the same exact project from 8th grade to junior year and got a solid B+ every time. I'm very proud of that B+

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

We all did this. It was spanish projects for me. haha. I do not think they were ever seriously graded.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but you needed it in the bu...oh, that's not kylecorn. Sorry y

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a lurker I never understood how aggravating this must be. Now that I have an account- fuck people that do this. Sorry for your loss.

12 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

what's worse is that this hasn't been on our front page for more than an hour and it now has 1000 points.

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

You think you've got a community all figured out and then this shit happens. "Oh we don't like cats today." "Selfies are okay for the (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

As I science teacher, I concur...Everyone HATES the science fair

12 years ago | Likes 909 Dislikes 8

When I was a kid my mom was a science teacher so I always loved it.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You are a fucking cheat and a liar. Warmest regards, a science teacher.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I had the only science fair project you could walk around inside. I made a solar system you could walk into and look at the constellations.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I once built a functioning telegraph for the science fair. Still hated the science fair.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I built a functioning pin-hole camera. Discovered then that the Science Fair was more shitty/snooty politics than anything else.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Science fair is all about school politics here. My kids love science but hate the fair because the teachers/room mom's kids always win.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

PTA mom's kids win here.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our teachers had to approve our projects for the science fair. When I proposed making a generator that ran on carbon dioxide, he said no 1/2

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

His reason was "I don't know how that would work." I ended up using dry ice sublimation in a sealed jar to create pressure high (cont.)

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

enough to spin what was essentially a small windmill. It didn't work the way I planned, but I learned a lot and was only in like 7th grade.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Turned that in regardless of what he said and got a B. Fuck his stupid reasoning, though.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I loved the science fair because I got a 100 (3 days late) on my project because I did calculations of Coronal Mass Ejections in 7th Grade.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I liked the idea of it...but by the time my teacher got around to my desk to ask me to choose a project from the list what was left SUCKED.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But... I like science... =(

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh man, I loved the science fair. =(

12 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

The science fair was always my favorite part of school.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I did too. I always went tryhard on mine. Couldn't let my rivals beat me.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If everyone hates it, why is it still a thing? I'm not being smart-aleck. I have a kid who'll be science fair age in a few years.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ignore the dickbutt. Science fairs are cool. Kids learn & get scholarships. They're even better as a judge. Check if you can volunteer.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I lived it. Sweepstakes and first place every year throughout elementary.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad to see you aren't a has-been. Warmest regards, a science teacher.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My science project was sticking a paper clip and a copper wire in a lemon and then touching it to the tongue.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does one, science teacher?

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Step 1: be too lazy to go to grad school.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

You do in fact need to go to grad school. Not difficult grad school, but grad school nonetheless.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Step 1: Take "69" out of all usernames

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I actually heard that when i said it aloud, good job

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good thing you're not an english teacher.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyone in my family liked the science fair... Well I guess I can't speak for my parents

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that because they are dead? Warmest regards, the science teacher.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In 6th grade, I got a D on my project because I compared catapults and trebuchets for accuracy. Teacher said it was a demonstration, not (1)

12 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 0

Then it shouldn't be called science fair. An experiment IN MY SCIENCE LAB? Please go reiterate what I have said AND NOT QUESTION IT!sarcasm

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That teacher is a fucktwodge.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I just learned a new word.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's funny because I gave your mother the D as well. Sucks about the science fair though. Warmest regards, the science teacher.

12 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 7

Your other comment with the exact same message has -7 points. Just want to point that out.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I sit in awe of this response

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What were your findings/results? Curious, cuz science.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Both reached similar distances, but the trebuchet was more accurate. (I built a 5 ft. model of each, btw. None of that tiny shit)

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

an experiment. I haven't liked any science fair since. (2)

12 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

Huh, in grade 12 we constituted a trebuchet and a catapult for our physics project. It was all science-y and stuff.

I loved my science fair project, I did a demonstration of Black Holes and Wormholes. It was awesome.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The only one I'm really proud of was I, in the fifth grade, did a study of the effects of 48 hour sleep deprivation on my mom. Won first.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Black Holes huh? Didn't know you could submit your mothers ass as an entry. I kid, I kid, good work.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

D: Wow, that was totally out of left field. Kudos for catching me completely offguard. Like i caught your sister last night in the alley. <3

Rape joke huh? Have an upvote you scumbag degenerate.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh so fuck me for liking science right? The science fair was great if you actually put in any effort

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

Yeah, they're great if you have internet or parents that care enough to at least take you to the library or to help with ideas.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always felt those science fairs were just a cruel presentation on whose parents were more active in their children's lives.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stop being a basic bitch sandy. Warmest regards, a science teacher.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I think it's more about when the fairs are just crazy disorganized festivals where nobody actually learns anything.

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I totally agree with that. I'm just saying that the science fair is a great opportunity for scientific creativity at a young age

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well the world does need garbage men.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The problem with science fairs is that schools force people who don't care at all to do them, leading to a bunch of half-assed ones.

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Solid reply! Such true.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The problem with public education is that it forces kids who don't care at all to get some sort of education.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I am not in agreement with this statement.
