Yank dairy producers are free to send product north up to a cap, after which they pay a mighty tariff. They have NEVER approached that cap. US dairy sells into the Canadian market virtually tariff free. And yet, they bitch and moan about a manufactured problem, doubtless swinging hard to pick up the dairy industry support they hope will help get a Republican or two elected come November...

And as well since we buy about 1.5b a year from USA and USA buys about 500m a year from us. We can sell all our own product of that 500m to ourselves and amp up productions and fuck out the USA entirely

It’s not just the quantity cap, but it’s to min price cap so others can’t undercut our markets which protects our farmer.

The interesting bit was the Trump administration claimed that doing so by province mandate violated trade agreements because they responded to a violated trade agreement. As if any lawsuit would get Canadian citizens to forget and start buying again.
