This is The Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy. The first Finnish edition. I guess the green creatures could be Dentrassi, but who’s the girl? Like, uh, Trillian? Now, what have _you_ got?

Seeing as how the picture is copyrighted 1976, and the first book came out in 1979, I'm going to guess it was some poor publishing house lackey who was told, *This book is about aliens, find a painting with aliens on it."

Yah, I know. But as a kid I did my best to fit the cover image to the book. Pegging the lil girl as Trillian was my best shot but even then I didn’t buy it myself. Back then I had no idea how cover images came to be.
