If only you could work half days, it would still be a (lower) bump in pay, and they hours would level right out...
Can have flexible hours. I think I might opt to work from home a couple of times a week once I've finished making a good first impression.
Or maybe something like four ~10 hour days instead of five ~8s...
Not feasible given the time it takes: I'm driving for about 5 to 6 hours a day, but I had thought about it.

i assume you're going to move closer though.. right?
Absolutely. It costs me almost as much in fuel as it would to rent closer.
good deal then. best of luck to you!

@OP, ill be doing something similar soon... car or train commute?
Car. 5 times cheaper than the train for the same destination.
that stinks... im lucky that i can get a month train pass for like 300 something, i don't think i could do a commute like that in a car
Cruise control ftw. No stranger to long drives, drove to Norway earlier this year. Took 2 days of 12 hour drives once I got to the mainland.
anything over a half hour is long to me haha, were are you that you will be commuting that far if you don't mind me asking

if only there was some way to remedy this situation.
Not yet, unfortunately. I have negative pennies and rents are in the region of 500 GBP a month + 500 deposit.
