If you stopped drinking coffee you'd sleep better.

We are not meant to live like this.

You just need to have money, eat healthy food, not have a stressful job, enough time to do sports, maybe have some pets, a healthy relationship, ...

1 year ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

...go jogging, have hobbies like curing cancer, walk on water, solve world hunger, leap tall buildings in a single bound, and always treat yourself to a nice hot scented bath every once in a while.

It guess faster the older you get. Therefore, as we agree we travel fatter

Drink more water, stop skipping meals, and make a ritual to disconnect and reduce stimulation for an hour or so before bed.

I can barely stay awake each day and my doctor doesn't listen.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*hugs* I’ve been in a similar situation.

I know it’s hard, but can you try to find a functional medicine doctor? They’re a new specialty that specializes in getting to the root problems of things. Did me a lot of good.

Could be thyroid problems, could be cortisol problems, or melatonin problems…

And only testing TSH for thyroid levels should be illegal, not the ā€œstandard of practiceā€ because that test was proven useless over a decade ago, but it’s cheap so insurance pushes it as ā€œgood enoughā€

Haven't had acid reflux in a while, but the rest is spot on.

1 year ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Me neither, a daily omeprozal keeps it mostly away

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've never had acid reflux.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm confident that getting enough exercise will help

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nope. Not always. Not during holidays or days off šŸ˜‚

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope. I quit my job, sold my house, moved across the country to nanny a 19 year old and 6 Bernise Mountain dog puppies. Then I met my husband. We bought a single wide, work farmers markets and door dash. I bought a 3 unit building we're refurbishing. I sleep now. And it's beautiful. But I had to throw away everything that gave me worth before and find a new form of self love that's not rooted in accomplishment.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sounds about right.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Noooo. ..I don't get acid reflux

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At age 33, I do frequently now and I don’t even eat much. Basically, I have to avoid tomato, citrus, soda, spicy, sugary, and sauces. Then again, my mom’s family is notorious for digestive issues so I’m not surprised I seem to have the stomach of an 80-year-old

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not fun =(

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tired doesn't begin to describe it.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, I feel great when I sleep from about 1am to 9pm. The world just doesnt like letting me live like that.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, I don't have constant nauseous acid reflux, there must be something wrong with you.

Change the caffeine to meth and some of those problems get replaced with exciting new problems

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I get to legally take "baby meth." That's pretty helpful. I rarely even touch caffeine nowadays. If anyone reading this has ADHD unmedicated, or thinks they might, talk to a doctor. Getting meds for it changed my life exponentially. Don't suffer needlessly if you don't have to.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

After seeing all the ADHD memes on here and thinking, "wait that's not normal?" .... Sometimes I really do wonder if I should find out.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can't hurt to get tested. In fact, sign up now, because you'll probably have to wait a couple months for an opening and you can always back out later. Finding a doc who does adult ADHD testing isn't as easy as for kids.

The answer is yes.

Also, I have a headache.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+ backache, sunburn, got bit my ants. Sore butt. I’m having a rough 2 weeks

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A fly but me on the ankle thru my sock... a fly. And that little fucker hurt. I sure hope it's not a screw worm fly cause those are increasing after decades of being kept far away

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I for one do not always feel tired, but I also never exactly feel *awake* either.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't want to make snap conclusions. But that's not normal, even if your entire life it's been normal for you. Lots of trial and error, or you can get lucky. YMMV.

"The battle against mental illness cannot be won decisively. It's a long campaign against an enemy that never tires. Whose forces swell twice the size when you look away. Battle against a foe of such magnitude, who occupies your very mind... every moment you survive is a triumph against all odds.

There is no more honorable combat."

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I mean, it seems pretty common for everyone I know in the U.S. except for one friend I have but I don’t agree that she has energy for it because she’s usually quite snippy and short-tempered when I see her and it’s probably because she doesn’t give herself enough down time from social activities and work.

I miss hanging with friends and having an SO>

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Also fuck my EX who told me adult males don't just hang with friends all night!

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Sorry for your experience, man. I still play a couple hours of video games with my brother and some friends every night. The key is to make sure your SO still feels valued and not ignored. I'm guessing they were taking their emotions out on you inappropriately. Maybe your next one will do better.

This was back in college, we've been broken up for 13yrs now.
I've had a few dates since then, but never a serious relationship, due to self esteem and confidence issues.
We were all but married for 6yrs. During that time I had no personal space, she was literally always within arms reach of me unless I was in the shower, or bathroom.
She tried to cut me off from all my friends and relatives, and convince me that if I were to just vanish, they'd find someone else.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She was mentally and physically abusive.
Though part of it I'm always worried I caused.
While we were together, I was going through the worst depression of my life. I had gotten in deep trouble, parents got a divorce, lost my family home in the divorce, dad tried to rape my mom, mom just up and abandoned everyone only to be found unconscious in a TX Super Market, Mom dying of cancer, my own health failing.. etc.
Anyways my ex though "Men were always horny and ready" thanks to popular culture

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sorry.. sorry.. this.. opened an old wound.
The whole thing about adults just hanging out was because before I left for college, in my early 20s I'd be with friends every night my age and older. All worked at the same bar and would hang out every night. I also had friends who I would just hang out with all night.
I mentioned missing it to my ex one day, a few years into our relationship, her reply was adult males don't do that....

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

that was a decade ago, everything is much worse now

1 year ago | Likes 509 Dislikes 1

I'm recently 31 and fully in the throes of OPs post. you mean to tell me it gets WORSE?

1 year ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

Soon your body will break down. Oh it's started?
No... it hasn't.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember being 31, most of my joints worked. Those were the days

1 year ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Once we stop growing, we start dying. Literally. Our cell replacement and repair has a timer of sorts. Eventually everything starts to breakdown. I was already like the post at 31 plus a back issue. Then at 33 I had The Injury and now my knees are fucky too. If you don't already do so, get a solid stretching routine and take vitamins for joint and heart health. When you get hurt, treat it. Don't try to tough it out, you're not proving anything by being in pain that causes additional damage.

My 30s were my best decade. Adult enough to know how to do things, young enough to dive into things, working and getting enough money to go out occasionally, and enough energy after work to enjoy those times out.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

im about to turn 36 and if i work enough i dont have any time to do anything but i have almost enough money to pay bills

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

yes. most of the time, you get older, fatter, slower, a bit more temperamental while everything else (also outside your control), gets marginally worse

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm 34 and yeah I feel this exactly. The only time I fall asleep quickly, is when I'm so absolutely busted from exhaustion.

The secret is being independently wealthy

1 year ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 3

Nobody is independently wealthy.
Rich Assholes require a tight-knit network of collaborators in order to keep control of their holdings, and they need to "invest" a decent chunk of their liquid assets in maintaining the systems that, in turn, maintain their wealth.
The only "independent" aspect of Rich Assholes' wealth is that they run the system and thereby are not subject to its predations.
Oligarchs make policy, instead of having policy dopredation.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True, that would solve the cleaning house and work issues. You could also probably sleep for as long as you like, and doctors in my country would actually care about you enough to find treatments and cures for all the bad stuff

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Though since the description says "no matter how much sleep they get", they might just be describing undiagnosed narcolepsy rather than just lacking sleep.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Money may not solve all problems but it definitely covers many of them

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They aren’t happy either. Money solves problems but most who earn or inherit wealth are never satisfied with what they have. It fuels more greed, consumption and general unhappiness.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 16

I don't work and I'm pretty fucking happy

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

I work and I’m pretty fuckin unhappy

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I rest my case

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I also imagine I would be less happy if i was homeless as well

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The happiest I’ve been was when I momentarily had zero debt and a surplus of cash in savings to the point that I could lose my job and it wouldn’t be a big deal. God I miss that feeling.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That is literally the dream right there

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I’m glad you’re happy. I don’t meet many whose wealth starts in the billions that are happy. I’ve met some, know a lot more millionaires and they also seem generally unhappy. Money doesn’t stress them until they meet wealthier people. Willing to betray their best friends or fire employees so their pockets can be stuffed with more money. Fear their family or friends are using them for money. Every relationship can become transactional for them.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

Billions? Geez, I would consider myself independently wealthy at 4-5 million and I would be getting plenty of sleep and eating well and exercising a lot and I guarantee I’d be pretty happy.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When we talk about being independently wealthy we don’t mean be a billionaire. We mean be able to pay our bills on time and keep the fridge stocked, and not live paycheck to paycheck.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are quite a few people that pretend they are wealthy but actually are leveraged to the neck. Unless you do the books for them you have no idea how much in the red these "wealthy" people you know are

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

These people own professional sports teams and $150M yachts. They’re not over leveraged. The cash on hand for these folks is absurd. Still see them unhappy as fuck.
