Why do these alignment charts always put Walter Sabchek as chaotic? Walter is Lawful Neutral AF. He pulls a gun on someone for stepping over the line in bowling. He says that at least Nazis stand for something. He has a rule for everything and hates when people don't respect rules. That's who he is.
I'm hurt that Pops Racer wasn't chosen for Chaotic Goodman. That flew to another country to chastise/ help his son and then that same man manhandled a Non-ja to protect his family.
Although he has his wild card moments he's obsessed with rules and regulations (mark it zero, I'm finishing my coffee) and he's obviously not evil but he's not good (you're not wrong Walter YOU'RE JUST AN ASSHOLE). The only chaotic thing he does is the undies bag scene but he's following his own soldiers doctrine, which I can still argue (though barely) that that's still him sticking to a set of rules
Picking and choosing which code you're living by moment-to-moment isn't a lawful action, it's just manipulating the people around you. That or it's mental illness which doesn't fall under the alignment chart.
I just think the alignment is up for debate, L can go C and G can go E... but ultimately it's an argument that you have to make. And yeah Walter is not exactly stable but I think because of his strict adherence to rules, without regard for others, is why he's LN. But you could make any argument hell I could see a working theory where he's CG
That movie had a lot of issues and was very uneven, but the final 20 minutes are solid. Overall, great performances from Goodman, O'Toole, Hurt, and Rose Tyler's mum.
Really good movie. Dumb premise but good overall. A feel good enjoyable movie you'd watch during Christmas season on a long transatlantic flight from Atlanta to Copenhagen... Not that I have done this exact thing...
That is classic LE. The Klan, the Inquisition, the Mafia...all archetypal LE organizations. Lawful alignment does not mean law-abiding (pre-5e Paladins would not be able to adventure in the places they were most needed, if it did). There are Rules which must be followed, but those Rules aren't necessarily compatible with the law of the land. (And the Rules for those within the organization and those without don't necessarily have a lot of overlap. But there *are* Rules for both.)
I'd say the cyclops was neutral evil. The vice dean of the air conditioning dept ruled with an iron fist and manipulated (but without breaking) the underlying regulations and power structures of the college. Peak Lawful Evil.
ohgodthehorror
John Goodman on Community was the funniest shit ever written.
hickorybakedbeans
What about John Goodman's breakout roles in Speedracer and Transformers

Ocious P. Potter from the borrowers.

He was great on Roseanne and The Connors. Too bad Roseanne turned out to be a racist cunt.
Rosfmmmhzdrozzley
What's the chaotic evilman role? That, and the lawful neutralman are the only two I don't recognize
SunBrolem
The closer you get to lawful good, the more fantastical it becomes. There's an allegory in here somewhere.
Kingdomonsterdeath
Where is his role from Fallen where he is taken over by a demon and is actually evil?
Arracor
Underrated, apparently. Although the character that gets possessed could definitely be the LG or LN (memory of his actions is a bit hazy...)
Kingdomonsterdeath
That is true. The human character was a good man. Been a while since that movie came out.
IgnisAurumProbat

John Goodman in 10 Cloverfield Lane scarred me for life. I know he was acting but I have never been so terrified of a human being.
worldbicyclist
It was a surprisingly good movie and he was excellent in it :)
flamingflamingo
It was good (except for the shoehorned ending) but I can’t ever watch it again. John Goodman will get me.
GravyEducation
Walter is lawful neutral. I'm drawing a line in the sand
cheesymcnoodle
I was thinking the same thing
HarryBlackstoneCopperfieldDresden
What about the part where he drew a 1911 on Smoky got going over the line? Or when he bailed out of the car with an Mp5?
TorrentialUpPour
I'd like to hear your case, if you don't mind.

No Righteous Gemstones?!??
LincLoud
My thoughts exactly. Eli Gemstone seems Lawful Neutral but maybe I'm wrong.
RandAIFlagg
I'd have gone with Lawful Evil
TalkingSnake
The famous still from Barton Fink would work really well.

Love that movie

John Chaotic Evilman for sure. The hotel scene in this was phenomenal cinematography. This whole movie was fantastic though.

I would've gone with the cyclops from o' brother where art thou for lawful evil, but good choices anyway.
AntRam95
Lawful evil? That guy was a high ranking member of the KKK, his last scene in the movie involves him taking part in the lynching a black man
KaminoNeko

Yeah, a scrict code (racism). Lawful/chaotic is about adherence to a set of rules. Religious extremists are the standard lawful evil example.
Drachenomics
I was about to say where's Big Dan?!
Ellistann
I’d have used the bookie in ‘The Gambler’ because of his rules and the ‘Fuck You’ speech.
TI99Kitty
What about the football coach from Revenge of the Nerds? I'd say evil, but somewhere on the cusp of Lawful and Neutral.
kepattRunner
They should’ve used Rev Gemstone for something

Could have easily convinced me it was Gemstone

Vice-Dean Layborn of the air conditioning repair school at Greendale Community College. Honestly maybe my favorite role of his, so good.

It's from his guest role on Community as the vice dean of the air conditioner repair school. As always, he's fantastic.

Oh god, I remember now. He killed it, it was delightful.

I hear he doesn't let his family eat until he's done with the meal though.

Gotcha, thanks! Yeah I see it now, I’ve seen the show a couple times but that picture is a little hard to recognize
NomDeImguerre
I mean, it's just John Goodman in a suit, so yeah.
BorgaSmorg
For real. I thought it was his West Wing role at first.
