i... don't joke about that... I have a history of that shit wearing off long before it should and had that happen while the doc was patching my split in half NOSE. I.. just... yeah... same with removing a wisdom tooth -__--.
I took forever to get knocked out, woke up several times during wisdom teeth extraction, bit one of the assistants accidentally, and was good to go about 10 minutes after “waking-up”. It was crazy.
I had an ileostomy, which leaves a big hole in your gut. When they finally sewed me up, they just pulled two sides of the hole together and stitched it up that way. Now I have, not just the scar, but the skin is puckered up at the sides, I wish they'd done it this way.
Big punctures like that don't heal well because the underlying tissue is disrupted. You want to get rid of irregular wounds like that and have nice clean lines where the dermal layers can easily fuse together to minimize scar tissue formation. If you just let the puncture heal on its own the patient will have a large and visible scar, and probably a divot where the tissue used to be. It also takes considerably longer to heal since the replacement cells have to "spill in" from further away.
I mean I had a circle take on my arm when they removed precancerous lump for testing and they just stitched it shut it seems like they could just cut a smaller circle around it and do the same thing with my arm

For a brief nano second I thought this was an actual human being and he as waiting for blood to appear.

You did an excellent job doc, no one can deny that... But I need that hole there, it's where I poop from..
lonelyrangerofthedreams
This will leave you a V scar, which is better than a bubble scar, right?

I was concerned about that horrible infection underneath for a good chunk of the clip.

That’s not an infection. It’s just his hidden lizard person skin.

BrickSprickly
Precisely. Avoids the slow wound packing healing after an incision & drain
subeom4
It’s not very bleedy
rhalm
They fill the wound with grape jelly first to prevent infection.

Why not bacon
rhalm
Because then they'd be tempted to eat the wound instead of seutring it up.

It's a fine suture, but it's not how we wanted the upholstery repaired.

Dang. I have a perfect triangle scar on my leg from a doctor saying it couldn't be stitched.
