MRW I send him out onto the streets tonight.
Today, we attended the funeral of Trooper Cameron Ponder who died in the line of duty on Sunday night.
Tonight, the love of my life traded in his pressed Class A uniform for his worn in Class B, and he walked out the door to protect and serve.
Think what you will about the military or law enforcement, but they are brave men and women, and the ones who wait at home love them and just want them to return safely.
RIP Joseph Cameron Ponder - your service and sacrifice do not go unappreciated.

It's a bummer all the crappy ones get the most attention :(

We saw a lot of support from the community today. It was a refreshing and heartening experience to see so many paying respects.

Respect, OP. My dad was SWAT my life growing up and still is today teaching the next generation. I worry every call out.

I'll keep my thoughts with you and yours - I hope we'll all be safe out there.

Update when he gets back safe! I'm less than 6 months from being in your shoes for the 2nd time so just good hopes out to the universe. <3

He's home now, safe in bed. Exhausted, but safe. :) It's not easy to support those who do dangerous work, but we have to. Be strong!

Very sad day, much love and respect to our LE community. That said, I wan't to also point out that it's one of the safest times 1/?

in recent history to be a law enforcement officer in the U.S. Sad as it is when our officers fall in the line of duty, on-duty deaths of 2/?

emergency personnel are down at their lowest rates in decades (they are abut half what they were in the 70's right now give or take). 3/

Point being, don't be afraid to work towards wearing that shield yourself because of highly publicised officer deaths, LE is great 4/

profession that more bright young folks should seriously consider entering. Yes there are risks, but you get to serve your community 5/

and still have less chance of dying on the job than electricians, loggers, fisherman, and construction workers 6/6
