XP was a game changer for many of us. I had some basic knowledge of 95 and 98. I was constantly being asked to do maintenance by relatives. Reinstalling on XP was so much easier than the older versions. Also, I feel nostalgic from those images, I would take Old MSN Messenger over current Teams.

I remember being asked to do work for 98. Millennium ended being the Vista of windows. Windows XP was both a marking point where I had more fix requests (thanks internet) but at the same time less because it was easier to reinstall. Windows is now doing the opposite. I have to uninstall latest updates because it's ruining older versions

And it's pretty much been downhill ever since, well 7 was pretty good.

7 was good. Honestly though, 10 is fucking phenomenal. I can usually install it in any machine from 2010 on up, and it'll find all the drivers needed up front.
That SAID, the older machines can't handle it very well, and I will usually run 7 or Xp on them.
I still use 7 on machines I want to run flash games or vids on.
Mostly dual core machines.
