A few years back, a rider went through a dry stone wall at over 100mph. He survived, was interviewed after about what went wrong. "I miscounted the corners".
271 rider deaths over the course of 108 years averages to ~2.3 deaths per year. If we restrict the parameters to the past 25 years, it's ~2.8 deaths per year. 2-3 per year is mathematically correct
