Chester, so many of his lyrics are about his struggles with mental health and they all resonate with me so much, somehow his lyrics help me cope with my own struggles, I hope he knew how many people he has helped just by putting those lyrics out and showing so many of us that we’re not alone that there are many people out there that struggle with the same thoughts. Listening to his music made me realize I shouldn’t hide this, if he could talk about it through music, I should talk about it too

Kurt is in his room - tears running down his face, heroin in his veins and a gun in his mouth… there is a knock at the door, it's Krist. Kris sees Kurt at his lowest moment and consoles him. They hold each other, trying to make sense of where they’ve ended up. Kurt and Kris talk to Dave, and they all take a break - knowing how much they each need to be there for each other. 1/?

Kurt reluctantly enters rehab in Nevada. The desert dries him out in more ways than one, while Courtney gets bored from the lack of drama and moves on to the next thing. We barely hear from her again. Dave and Krist make regular visits to NV to see Kurt, but he is struggling. It’s too much for Krist; he needs his friend and he can’t get him back the way he knew him. He’s seen too much; he’s seen the darkness. 2/?

Instead, he moves into politics in Washington state where it’s clinical and safe and he does well championing the people. Dave is hooked to Kurt (his hero), and he moves to Palm Springs to be closer to his lead singer, and dear friend. Kurt completes rehab and comes out to find that Dave has met Josh Homme. They aren’t perfect in the studio - but Kurt can hear something. Something is there... ready to be championed. 3/?

They work tirelessly and Dave comes out into his own as a songwriter and lyricist. Kurt, now devoid of ego and more about the art than ever before moves into a lead guitar role. Josh is stoked to contribute to the songs and play that shuffle rock rhythm guitar, bringing his wailing vocals to the compositions. Dave, the drums and soul of the group, holds the tempo - driving the narrative and the story as they all gel to for something new. 4/?

Everyone wants to be The Exception to the rule! Your city has a sound curfew of 11pm? This concert goes until midnight, because they’re the exception. You don’t like hard rock? Well, normally, but they’re the exception. Josh and Kurt are guitar maniacs - Paz and Pat keep them in line & irreverent, while Dave and Josh keep the core of the band in sync. They’re exceptional.
