White elephant gift for gift exchange at work.

Dec 14, 2019 4:39 AM

Jack was perfect for whiskey in a cage. I made the cage super tight. No giggles.

I’m fairly new at welding so the welds are gnarly. I think it adds appeal. Like a sculpture.

I kinda just started cutting and welding without much of a plan. I did this all with minutes of engineering. I got the idea from imgur. But the execution was entirely my own with material I had in my garage.

Tbh I’d just consider it a decoration and buy myself a bottle.

Weld done!

Jack Daniels: the most essential tool in your garage.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

YOU STOLE MY IDEA! YOU BASTARD! Nah, I'm making one of these for a friend. She told me not to buy her anything so I'm making her something.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didn't say it wouldn't contain something I bought though. I'm using 1/2 inch rebar and 3/8 plate for mine.

Jack in a box

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Best bet is probaby to drill a hole through the top lid and unscrewing the cap through the hole

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Engineering???

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well yeah. Can’t you see the master craftsmanship? Ha ha ha!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Put in bowl. Break glass. Drink from bowl. Spit out glass as needed. Next problem...

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Imagine it’s the last bottle on earth and you find it. Do you try to drink it or beat someone to death for this contraption??? Decisions...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm just shocked that the bottle didn't break because of the heat! Nice fucking job man!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Easy fix, 1. Hammer 2. Cheesecloth + Pasta Strainer 3. Hookers n blow 4. Profit

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Who doesn’t like Jack n glass.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Weld done

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it deserves powder coating in black!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Despite all my rage, I am still just Jack in a cage ?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I’d be smashing pumpkins if I ending up with this gift

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I see what you did there and I'm Jacked up over it ?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like it!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Bad whiskey, just throw it away

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

fuck whoever does this, i understand caging animals..but a bottle of jack, fucking monster

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

someone get me a hammer and a bucket..

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd set it on your desk and give the bottle a whack with a ball peen hammer. Thanks for the Jack

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

well done, i think it’s beautiful

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Despite all my rage I am still just Jack in a cage

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd just fire up my plasma cutter and zip it right out in about 30 seconds. Weld it back in full of iced tea, and give it right back.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Thou art' genius!!!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmm

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I would murder the person that gave this to me.

6 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 7

With a disc cutter?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a white elephant exchange, you don't directly gift it. It goes in a pile you draw straws and can pick from the pile.

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Who the fuck owns a white elephant?!?!?!?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People who had pissed off the king of Thailand

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

With it

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

can the heat from the metal welding affect the taste of the whiskey?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

no

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Taste of what whiskey. Jack is literal trash.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 10

You weld it up most of the way without the bottle in so not much heat gets to it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not worth it for that dishwater.

6 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 19

Thought the same. The postage on that is going to be more than a new bottle. Very smart.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 8

Postage?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whisky hipsters are fun at parties

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 5

I mean, I got a saws all, with the right cuts I could have that sucker free enough to drink from. Free whiskey is good whiskey

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Cant wait to see this bottle resurface 60 years from now online as an antique

6 years ago | Likes 288 Dislikes 1

"gonna break my rusty cage and run"

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

it kinda looks like trophy

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I doubt it, JD is like pisswater, baffles me how people consciously choose it at the bar

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 22

It's the only one I know the name of. I usually drink beer unless peer pressure.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Johnnie Walker Black Label, Makers Mark, Woodford Reserve, Glenlivet, to name a few.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's blended Scotch, Bourbon, bourbon, and a single malt Scotch. JD is Tennessee whiskey. So basically they are nothing alike.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Do you tip your fedora before or efter you bought your "more refined" brew?

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

- Triggered

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 12

Because it ain’t bad at all, and after a few beers it just a waste to order Lagavulin.

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

That's like $60 of Jack. I'd be at it with a hacksaw.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ha ha ha! Nah. $14

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Welcome yo Australia. Now I think of it, maybe $45US?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

How... how do you get to the whiskey?

6 years ago | Likes 378 Dislikes 14

Very carefully

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With great difficulty

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

break glass in bucket,drink

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Single drill hole through the top + straw & decant the contents.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

You better don't, he works as an organizer of AA meetings

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The liquor store.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You use the other gift, a file baked into a cake.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of creative solutions in these comments, had no idea there were so many alcoholics on imgur

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Drill a hole and then use a fine mesh with a filter to catch any glass shavings. I'm not an alcoholic.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Drill and a straw

6 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

i think so too, however i’d look great above my kitchen cabinets as i sip a single malt

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yep, right through the top. Zero to drunk in 20 seconds flat

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I like the way you think.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Drill

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't. You throw it in the trash, go to the store, and buy a scotch

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Science

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You regift it and use the money you saved buying the other person a present on buying two bottles.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Metal straw

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looking at those welds, a light to medium tap with a hammer

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dremmel tool

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

this is not 5min crafts

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

You shotgun the bottle. Either literally or figuratively.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's Jack. Why would you want to?

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 5

to serve as a warning to those who follow us in this never ending stream of time. i can hear them now chanting “don’t drink jack!”.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Dreadful stuff. I would rather eat the cage.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Just shove the whole thing up your ass and wait

6 years ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 5

For your ass acid to dissolve the steel.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

This guy gets it ^

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had to go back just to give you an upvote

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s the trick. Getting to the whiskey without breaking the bottle.

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

i mean, if he was able to weld it in safely, i feel like there's enough room to cut it out again.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

One could also use a handheld metal saw, though I gotta admit I'd probably just keep that work of art around.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i mean... i'd be more than happy to leave it in its "case"... just can't drink whisky.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Loads of room at the top. Cut the corner pieces, lift off.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You can finally put your katana to good use.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Katanas are actually very fragile and are used for slashing. It would both do nothing to the cage, and also severely damage the blade.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Angle grinder to the four posts

6 years ago | Likes 163 Dislikes 2

bucket&hammer to cap

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

.... This is how new rules get added to white elephant exchanges.

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

Or plasma cutter if you wanna get silly

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

That's what I'd use.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Angle grinder to the top plate - just enough hole for the neck of the bottle

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What? Do you prefer a molotv to the face?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a lot of work for Jack Daniels.

6 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

I would have at least gone with a bottle of bulleit

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It's the challenge and journey that matters, not the booze. Sides, you wanna waste good booze with this challenge?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

FREE jack daniels

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Like I would ever pay for Jack Daniels?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hammer, bucket,cheese cloth

6 years ago | Likes 381 Dislikes 3

this guy gets it

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Simplier: Wet some string or yard with alcohol, wrap it around the neck. Light the string on fire, let it sit for a minute, spray water>

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

onto the string, and it'll crack the neck open with minimal glass shards. Note douse it quickly and fully or you'll have a bigger problem.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Might be just me, but "minimal" glass shards still sounds like too many glass shards.

6 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

This made me chuckle

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the sober talking! You're not supposed to be listening to the sober, officer.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My brain put a comma between cheese and cloth so I was thinking you were treating yourself to a little cheese break in the middle

6 years ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 0

Cheese breaks are never a bad idea

6 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

what about when you're landing the international space station?

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Depends on how you're landing it. Are we talking whole re-entrt or multiple explosive trajectories?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

SPACE CHEESE!!!!

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Remove cap. Bendy straw. Check mate

6 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

I like where your head’s at, however, the top plate is pressing on the cap. Check mate.

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Strong arm with the kaprisun straw

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mate, cheque.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0
