I was an independant. Still am. But I'll be voting blue until there is a better option. That's what being independent means for me. choosing the best option regardless of affiliation. But any politician who chooses to align with Trump is clearly not the better option.

I honestly think if they play their marketing right, VPKH can get 100 million votes. Not that it'll actually matter because of the archaic electoral college. But I have a decently hopefully feeling Trump won't match 2020's vote count. Sure his base is still behind him (😏) but it's not like he's attracting new customers. Same snake oil, same salesman.

The snake oil is going a bit rancid. Also Harris is more likeable than Hilary and R's have wasted time trying to go after Biden with Hunter's laptop and gun charge so no time to gin up some scandal. R's have also been talking shit about biden being old and now trump is suddenly the oldest candidate in history. All they have is racism and misogyny. Which they *will* use copiously. It's still rigged in their favor but I'd put slight odds on Harris, whereas I think biden was a slight underdog.

You’ve missed the point. The banner says, I’m a republican. So, they still support all the horribly shit the Republicans want to do, they just don’t like Trump. I’m all for these people voting blue, but they still identify as red. Never forget that, because if someone less repulsive than Trump comes along, they’ll go right back to voting red.

That's also true, yes. The party of Reagan certainly did us no favors. The saving grace was that they weren't off-the-rails crazy. These are the "RINOs" Trump's party has ostracized for not toeing the new party line, but they are still conservatives.
Still. I'd like to think that a few years under a progressive government might actually change some minds. Not all. Not most. Maybe not even many. But some... is better than none.

Trump uses the exact same talking points (regulation bad, social services bad, tax cuts to the rich) they have always used. He's just really bad at hiding the rest of it (black people bad, women bad, gays bad, liberals bad).
He stole their plausible deniability, at a time where a new generation is starting to vote and the oldest generation is starting to pass. They either win this year or eat shit. And they know it.
