Hesher

An anarchist (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) shakes things up after moving -- uninvited -- into the garage of a troubled youth (Devin Brochu) and the kid's father (Rainn Wilson).

Great acting, great story. This film will fuck with you.

Death to Smoochy

Tells the story of Rainbow Randolph (Robin Williams), the corrupt, costumed star of a popular children's TV show, who is fired over a bribery scandal and replaced by squeaky-clean Smoochy (Edward Norton), a puffy fuscia rhinoceros. As Smoochy catapults to fame, Randolph makes the unsuspecting rhino the target of his numerous outrageous attempts to exact revenge and reclaim his status as America's sweetheart.

Came for Robin Williams, stayed for Edward Norton.

SLC Punk

Two former geeks become 1980s punks, then party and go to concerts while deciding what to do with their lives.

Another film that will fuck with you. But this one fucks with you hard.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

A film about what could happen if the wrong person pushed the wrong button -- and it played the situation for laughs. U.S. Air Force General Jack Ripper goes completely insane, and sends his bomber wing to destroy the U.S.S.R. He thinks that the communists are conspiring to pollute the "precious bodily fluids" of the American people.

Highly satirical, still relevant.

RocknRolla

Old-school mobster Lenny Cole (Tom Wilkinson) rules London's underworld with an iron fist and a score of well-greased palms. As big-time gangsters and petty crooks all scramble to get their cut of a Russian mobster's crooked land deal, street-wise hustler One Two (Gerard Butler) tries to play both sides of the fence as the lucrative deal falls into the lap of Lenny's presumed-dead son.

Guy Ritchie film, 'nuff said really.

Braindead

Overprotective mother Vera Cosgrove (Elizabeth Moody), spying on her grown son, Lionel (Timothy Balme), as he visits the zoo with the lovely Paquita (Diana Penalver), is accidentally bitten by the fearsome Sumatran rat-monkey. When the bite turns his beloved mother into a zombie, Lionel tries to keep her locked safely in the basement, but her repeated escapes turn most of the neighbors into the walking dead, who then crash a high-society party thrown by Lionel's boorish Uncle Les (Ian Watkin).

Really funny, great characters. Some of Peter Jacksons best work.
Got referenced in Shaun of the Dead so it must be good, right?

This is England

Shaun (Thomas Turgoose), who lost his father in the Falklands War, earns the respect of skinheads when he stand up to their teasing. He becomes part of the gang and enjoys hanging out with his new friends. Trouble starts with the return of Combo (Stephen Graham), a racist ex-convict. With the gang divided into two factions, Shaun sides with Combo and, unfortunately, finds in him a father figure.

A film that will make you feel every kind of emotion there is. Soundtrack is cool as fuck.

***FP Edit***

Due to the Thunderball trend in the US atm, ya'll should watch my bonus recommendation

'Waking Ned Devine'

Best friends Jackie O'Shea and Michael O'Sullivan discover someone in their small Irish village has won the lottery. Deducing that Ned Devine is the lucky man, O'Shea and O'Sullivan pay him a visit, only to find him dead from shock. Since Devine is the only one who can claim the prize, the townsfolk band together to convince the claim inspector that O'Sullivan is really Devine, and split the cash.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

That's such a good Aussie movie! Thanks for mentioning it :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

R.S. is a Nazi flick (good nonetheless). T.I.E. is a real Skinhead flick, respecting the Ska roots and showing the infiltration by fascists.

42% rating at Rotten Tomatoes disagrees with you. I remember lots of hate when it came out, too.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

66% from viewers, though. Also, it has been better reviewed as time has gone on. In general, Rotten Tomatoes is a bad review site, however.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It has strange offbeat humor, definitely has a specific audience.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's black comedy about kids shows. RT isn't the sole arbiter of good movies.
