Memorial Day starts with a bang, ends with a dirty frying pan.

So yesterday I'm at my friend's parents' house for a Memorial Day BBQ. His father makes the burger patties in the house and then goes outside to light the grill in their outdoor kitchen. He comes back 5 minutes later to get the plate full of burgers when suddenly BANG!

Explosion rocked the house. The searing station blew out of the slot to the right of the grill.

The grill moved forward a good 4 inches out of its cradle. The tile blew off the back and landed by the fence.

The countertop blew up into the air and landed in the neighbor's yard.

Since propane is heavier than air, I think a small leak inside the cabinet slowly filled up with propane until it reached the flame in the bottom of the grill. Luckily nobody was around when it happened.

We ended up cooking the burgers on the electric stove in the house. Still had a good time and a great story to share.
