I don’t believe rocky metallic planets are required for life. The moons of Saturn (Enceladus and Europa) have large liquid oceans under a thick layer of ice. Hopefully we will find life there in the upcoming missions. If we do, that would dispel the Goldilocks zone theory and open up many more planets and moons for potential life.
If other life has traveled to earth, I assume we wouldnt know. Because any planet capable of travel at that kind of distance is likely to be capable of making sure we dont know they are there. Now the odds on them traveling here? No idea, im not sure that is knowable without knowing if or how many other lifeforms exist
Was watching a video on how the most likely time for the beginnings of life to form in the universe was just slightly (in a cosmic sense) after the big bang, vastly before our sun even formed. So if that's true, those beginnings could have eventually found themselves on an early planet, became single celled organisms, and depending on conditions, could have resulted in a sapient species with anywhere from millions to a few billion years headstart on us. If FTL is at all possible...
FTL is my most ardent wish for humanity. Imagine if maga had their own planet waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over there. It wouldn’t solve all of our problems as a species, but it would certainly give us the time to work out problems that plague us.

Wikipedia says the number of rocky metallic planets are about 1% of all planets. Assume planets exist 1 in every 10000 stars( i did not research how common planets were, but should do that ) that is still an shitload of rocky metallic planets.
Even barring that how many are in a habitable zone? We accept the universe started from a single incident. That means in the confines of our universe there would have to be a first sentient species. We have equal proof for, and against claiming we are the first, which is none. When that situation changes I expect a paradigm shift in priorities comes with it. Humans do well coming together against common enemies. Unless they’re like really rich, or Israeli.
