My beautiful Link had a heart attack and went to the rainbow bridge. He was standing one second, dead the next. I can’t get over it or over him. What do I do now??

at least he went quick with little to no time to feel pain. you gave him a good life filled with love. He will be watching over you I am sure of that. I still hear meows from time to time from cats I have lost over 10 years ago. So much so it is usually a sign an animal I know/one of our pets usually is passing away or already just did and they are coming to pick them up. though last few years its been hallucinations half the time due to head injury... but still.

Goodbye Link. Thank you for the time you spent with your human friends!

Like with humans. You either get time to get used to the idea, while they suffer; or they go quick and you suffer. I know which I'd prefer.

He's the Hero of Time. He'll be back around again, reincarnated into another kitty you can love on just as much.

My condolences on your loss :(

Having lost my Orange tabby the 29th of June. It gets easier, the void is never filled. But it gets easier.
You have my condolences.

You do what your be fine so far, @OP. You grieve. You share photos and memories with those around you, like you have done here. That helps Link live on in the hearts who see and hear. You be thankful that he was here, and be reassured that you were his world. That one cat doesn't change the world, but you changed the world for him. And the hardest part, is knowing that the hurt you feel now? It is equal to all the love and joy you shared together. He was fantastic, @OP, and I am sorry he's gone.

That's beautifully put.

Your Link decided to cross the rainbow bridge same day as our beloved Pericles one year ago, the 14th. Here am I, next day at 5:35 AM still remembering how was to wake up without him next day. But we remember him every day, how he made us happy with simple things and how we made him happy. Your Link will be with you every day, forever. For us it was relieving to give him a beautiful farewell.

Our little Nobu was an orange cat too, and he too suffered a heart attack out of the blue.
You love Link, you cherish him, you remember him fondly always. And you tell any future feline family members what grandpa Link was like.

What an amazing cat. I have photos of my late cat in my office and in my house. He is still with me. Look after yourself.

Oh my god. How traumatic that must have been for you. I am so sorry. My most favorite cat Thomas, also an orange boy, definitely met him on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Orange cats are best cats, and Link knew he was loved. Much love to you both ❤️

May your sweet boy be found breaking pots in heaven and gathering rupees! I think of my dog all the time and will forever.

Sorry for your loss, OP. Always remember the good times and love you shared with your beautiful moggy.

Me and my partner are so sorry for your loss. Our Oscar died one night of congestive heart failure. We had no idea, just took him to emerg. Cherish the memories. It gets easier over time

My dog passed away three months ago and I still ugly cry almost every day. My experience is there aren't many words that will bring comfort, but some actions that can help.
I created a small memorial cabinet for her where her favorite spot in the house was. I have pictures of her everywhere. I bought flowers to place with her ashes. I got a custom necklace to help keep her memory close to my heart. I wrote a letter to her about all the things I miss, and I'll probably write more.
Isorikk
But despite all those things, the best you can really do is just cry. The emotions will come, and you should be grateful for them, because the sadness is testament to how much love you shared.

petloss.com helped me alot when my boy had to go 5 yrs ago. old fashioned chat room and message board, with compassionate, kind people that are openingly grieving together. Every Monday at 7pm PST/10pm EST - they host a candle ceremony to celebrate the loves of our lives.

Thank you, this is good info

All I can say is, we all die, but the best death is a sudden and quick one. He probably didn’t feel any pain before dying and lived a wonderful long happy life. That is literally all anyone wants. *hugs @op*

My sympathies. He was a handsome boy and know you've made his life wonderful.

You rescue a new kitty, not orange like Link was but different, and while getting to know and love your new kitty you slowly get over your beloved Link while helping out a cat in need.
