Well that’s one way to rip your prop off.
CatlessBastard
Boar engines use the water they are in for cooling. Seems like a really bad idea if you want your engine to work again.

Isn't that bad for the bridge?

That is a perfect example of too much money

As an engineer I have done concerns
kiwikunt
As an engineer if that bridge can't handle that kind of loading it has no business being a bridge.
First, it's a question of where those ropes are fixated. And second my main concern is the boat hull.
Bootysnax
Its rare to see something new and different. Bravo and thank you

And once again, what could possibly go wrong?
FluxSagrie
This seems slightly dangerous.
WhatUpDog3000
What's the permit process for that like?
nojustsayitdont
Ain't no law against that. At least until it unhooks and that boat takes out 10 specatatoors.
BreenW
This occurred in New Zealand, and the bridge is under Dept of Conservation control. They are very pissed and trying to find the guy!

That boat is going to disintegrate.

there are old boatdrivers and there are crazy boatdrivers but there are not much old crazy boatdrivers.

Is violently swinging boat pendulum part of the foreseeable misuse conversation in the engineering of that bridge?

I feel unsafe just watching that

When COVID closes the County Fair.
Let’s see: No helmet, doubt there’s a seatbelt, no safety wire, that engine’s gonna be toast soon if he’s not careful and it’s illegal.
DieselWiesel
Just curious, why exactly is this illegal?
becausefukyouthatswhy
Looks like a train bridge, but even compared to just a couple cars this is nothing.
dm80x86
It's not just the weight it's the side to side motion like bending a wire back and forth.

Anything fun is illegal.

The bridge could falls down, crashing onto him and then drown him at the bottom.
BoomerSooner767
Engine prop out of water will overspeed, damaging the transmission and gears. Did this in big waves on my boat going airborne for a second..
Ynigmatyk
A giant shark with arms could catch the boat and scold the driver for not getting enough air then he throws the boat for a full loop
cobacalao
Dropping into the water isn't excactly going wrong, but the situation after that isn't just right.

this just seems like you trying to knowledge brag but it wasnt a good one :/

I think an overheating engine is the least of his problems here
danspratt90
I think it has a self-contained motorbike engine and radiator, these boats are designed to be driven rough, up rapids and over rocks etc
PieAndPunch
Well I didn't know that until now so I guess I would've made the same mistake
Boats have a garden hose fitting so you can run water through them when you start it in land.
fistermatic5000
Yeah but if you own a boat you should know at least a little something about boats.
texasdean
To be fair he’s really only reving it when it’s in the water that’s likely enough to cool it as long as this is a short timeframe.
Attwarnerm
I grenaded a jet ski engine as a kid. After a big bang, and the engine quitting and not starting, we decided to look at it in the morning 1/
The next morning the jet ski had sunk, as a piston head had shot through the metal shield in the engine compartment like a bullet.
UKMonkey
It's fine, the propellers bent so much out of shape on the first impact the whole thing needs replacing
Benki6wbh
Actually since the intake is small for the water it's more likely it's not getting any water cooling due to an air bubble
MrShadewing
Also possible over-speed due to no water resistance.
