I have Evil Santa coming up, which is where you get gifts at random and can either open yours or steal an open one. I was told to bring something "I'd want to steal", and well, we're a group of science nerds and I haven't wanted to pay $40 on a beaker candle before, so I figured, buy the stuff and make one and then use leftover stuff to make my self even MORE!
I added a hydroponic plant to pair with it because I didn't feel like the candle was enough, but I think they will work well together. I can only hope they are not seen as the dud gift.

Fantastic gift! Have you tried using non-soluble powdered coloring in your candle making? It makes the finished product slightly translucent, with a gravity induced color gradient. If yes, please don’t mind me, I just imagined the mauve candle might benefit from something like that, but it’s your gift, you do you!

This was the first time I've ever made a candle and I use half the purple they gave me thinking it would be more "coloured" - I literally got 8 colour tabs and used a whole one in the candle, ended up a bit bummed it was so pastel in the end, so this suggestion is AMAZING and I do not have time to correct this one but you've given me ideas for next time!! A translucent candle in a beaker would be pretty cool too, but I bought a simple beeswax kit to start with.

Glad to be of help! Funnily enough, I discovered the process I mentioned by accident on my first try at candle making too. I wasn’t getting candles I like from nearby stores, and I don’t like to use Amazon, so just bought some paraffin wax, and some thick cotton threads, and used some concrete coloring laying around (we’re renovating). The final product turned out to be slightly translucent with a gravity induced color gradient (since the concrete coloring is insoluble in paraffin wax).
