Perhaps my body was so repulsed by pure water it backstabbed me? Like Brutus and Caesar but if it was a metaphor for self sabotage, i guess. Oh well, I lived, and yes i did finish drinking the cup of water! Fucked up being alive so bad for a minute there, but it was achieved, and i’ll take what i can get.

Edit for added context: I almost exclusively drink soda save for sweet tea or the occasional juice; specifically diet dr pepper. However! I would like to add that we've got a garden growing now and i've been eating a shit ton of cucumbers from it. (They're damn good,) so that's gotta count for something, haha.
Don't ever underestimate depression, kids, unless you wanna be stuck with bathing similarly to a sponge bath or never drinking water; and don't get me started on sleep!

Water is dangerous..

You’re not use to non carbonated things or sugary things. It’s natural. If you keep drinking it, you won’t choke on it. Proud of you for making that choice to drink water again :)

Not my proudest confession, but typically soda. No clue why, could be soda addiction, could be a comfort thing, could just be that it’s always consistent and never changes, but i almost exclusively drink soda. Save for the occasional sweet tea!

I'd try to find a way to cut that intake in half. Dark sodas have potassium and constantly loading your kidneys with potassium is a huge strain. If you need caffeine try coffee or iced tea. My father is 80 now and his kidneys arent doing well. They also sell those flavored powder mixes that can help too. My uncle uses a soda stream and then uses lime juice as the flavoring.

I go through a gallon of sweet tea like every two or three days. So good! Its got water in it, so its fiiiiiiine! Right?

My dad used to do that until he got diabetes ☹️

You could drink bottled water if you want it to not change.
Because man, drinking Soda only is quite wow.

Last time I had soda was... 3 months ago XD I like water... and hot cocoa ... and rum too ! XD
But not too often for the rum and cocoa.

Where do you live? Tap water in parts of america is repulsive. I once complained at a food court in FL that my soda tasted like bleach. They just looked at me an blinked. Fontain soda in Florida is undrinkable. It follows that the tapwater is too.

The nozzles on soda fountain dispensers are removable and need to be cleaned every day or they build up bacteria. Places will pull them all and throw them in a bucket with bleach water, usually as part of their closing tasks. They're supposed to rinse them before they put them back on so that all the drinks don't taste like...you guessed it...bleach.

100% chance the place you went to skipped that last part.

I'm in the south if that means anything, and apparently in my county we experience algae issues that can affect the taste and smell of our drinking water, and apparently there's also trace amounts of PFAS inside the water, so that's fun..

'always consistent and never changes' does the water infrastructure where you live not mean you have consistent access to water? At least for me nothing has changed in that regard for decades.

Tap water is always yucky and i hate seeing the little floating specks inside, different bottled waters have different flavors, sometimes there's just a weird after taste, etc etc. I also, honestly, just weirdly don't trust it? I don't know, i've got like 50 different mental stuff going on, graha

Maybe they mean like, home/work/restaurant/bottled water all taste different from the different piping and filtration systems?

For the longest time I would use that water filter that screws onto your faucets head. Eventually when we replaced out sink I had a plumber put in a separate mini faucet and 3 stage filter system. Installation was under 100 and the i think the whole system as like 70-150 or something like that. Filters last like 6 months to a year so maintenance cost is super low.

I suppose, but if they are already buying soda, they could also buy the same bottled water. It just seems like a curious reason to add on, so I thought I would ask more about it.

I know that's one of the reasons my partner mostly drinks soda, though they are slowly learning to drink bottled water as well. XD
