#1 The reason why we take fever reducers is that raising body temperature works so well it tends to start killing itself more than it needs to. The rest of the immune system tends to work well enough. There are times with novel viruses (in otherwords new/unknown/unresearched viruses) where it's not advised to take fever reducers because we don't have a track record of knowing how well the immune system will otherwise work.
