When I was a young kid my grandfather took me to the last water powered sawmill in the area, the blade was twice the size of this and it was loud and terrifying. Its still there but the guy who owns it has allegedly been in the process of restoring it for the last 30 years but not much has been done.
Go offer help. I had a neighbor who was "restoring" their first car and never touched it for years. I offered to help and suddenly he was out there a couple nights a week and I was just hanging out handing him tools and chatting. Took him 2 years to finish it and he told me it would have never happened without me. I literally helped him just with stuff that needed two people. He did all the real work.

It’s ok, the very frayed belt that looks like it has a wig stuck to it will break if you get pulled in.
The transfer shaft outside will pull you apart like a rotisserie chicken, though.
