* - This was the first game I bought with my own money. 1984 from the Egghead Software store in Glendale, CA. I was in 4th grade. It was for the Atari 800 XL, I had 64 kilobytes of RAM and a 5.25 floppy drive.
It came with a cloth map of the world. Around the border are names of the cities. There wasn't anywhere to look up walkthroughs, it was 1984 and I was 9. It took about 2 years to finish.
It actually took longer than that. My mom was convinced by her super churchy sister-in-law that this was satanic. She took it away from me, and a Scorpions cassette tape because omg so full of Lucifericiousness. I pulled the disks out of the trash and made copies, put the originals back in the trash. I wish I had these today.
The Box Art did not help my case. I felt it so odd considering we didn't go to church (never once). Note to parents: All this made me do was go to friends' houses (and then listen to Deicide). You can't control your kids as much as you think.

Lots of love for this game today.

The Ultima series was so well known in its day. It took until 1992 with Star Control 2 to affect me in the same way. SC2 is still amazing
