Friday morning i woke up with a headache. I didn't think to much of it because it usually happens when i sleep wrong or don't get enough sleep. I took some meds and went on with my day. My headache went away after about an hour. Around 5 PM after getting home i started to feel dizzy so I laid down and took a nap. At 7 I woke up shivering, headache was back, very dizzy, and sinuses were clogged. Around 11 I got a fever of 101.4 and my wife drove me to the ER. They did a chest scan, did alot of blood work, tested for COVID, and gave me 2 bags of IV fluid. After about 2-3 hours of being there they came in and told me I was positive for COVID-19. It was surreal because I've always avoided coming in contact with alot of people even before the pandemic. After I got home I started losing my sense of smell and taste. After quarantining myself to the basement for the past few days and sleeping on an air mattress my wife is now showing symptoms. She is getting tested tomorrow.
I spoke to my work and they said i would have to burn my PTO days, which I don't have any. I am unable to work remotely because I am the only IT person in the building and its impossible to fix or replace a computer when you cannot go in the building. So for the next 2 weeks my wife will be the only one bringing home any money cause she works from home for her mother. We are can manage without that income but its always something to worry about. I also know that people have lost their jobs and/or loved ones during this time and I am grateful that i am not going through that right now and my thoughts go out to everyone that is having trouble during these rough times.
For anyone who actually thinks COVID-19 is not that serious or is fake, I feel sorry for you and I hope you get the help you need. Unfortunatly I have people in my family who believe its a hoax. So for the safety of everyone wear a mask, wash your hands, stay home if you can, and practice safe social distancing.

As soon as better find another job. Company that treats IT like that can fuck themselves.

I planned on it. It's just hard to find IT work in my area that pays anything close to what I need to pay bills and take care of my family.
