Medical tourism is a thing, unfortunately

Already have 10k of debt from a different procedure followed by another 20k caused by illness from other things. No more money for me...

I had a similar experience after bending my knee the opposite direction it's supposed to. One arthroscopy, and the removal of a torn meniscus flap later walking is much more bearable.

That's what the referral is for but current doc figures the new one will say no as well

It also depends on your age. Knee replacements don't last forever and the younger you get one the more likely you'll end up with a hinge joint, look it up. Not to mention the royal of periarticular fracture. Joint replacement can solve some of your problems but creates new ones as well.

Yeah, age was part of it, and I get it, but I'd like to be able to live without pain and the fear of constantly falling down. And the ability to do stairs faster than a snail.

Dr Mike on youtube has a similar issue, can't remember if he had any mentionable pain, but he said something along the lines of it not being dangerous. He said that when his patients asks about he just bends down on his knees so they hear how bad his sounds. Yours get swollen, so not exactly the same, but doctors usually treat you the same they would treat other doctors. If they say no, it's likely for a good reason. Surgery has its downsides/risks after all.

This just made me remember my friend being denied back surgery when he was in so much pain he couldn't walk due to a slipped disk because he's "young, we don't want to do something so risky". The surgery in question was an outpatient procedure he's had done before. Doctors are extremely good at discounting your pain and suffering for reasons that make no fucking sense.

Yeah that is also true, surgeons are traced by "success rate" on their operations and whatnot. If a surgeon has a 100% success rate, it means they're only taking the safest and easiest jobs. They are the ones labeled the "best surgeon", and I'd assume higher success means higher pay.

Condition aggravates beyond "holy fucking shit". On new doc. appointment, doc's like: "Why didn't you see a doctor earlier?"

I got lucky with my referral put me as tier 2 so within 12 months surgery but he did mention i should be the lowest which is beyond 12 months

That's awesome! Hope it goes/went well!

Yea surgery went well, 6 week checkup not as much. Wasnt exactly sound advice from the surgeon. If anything take the word of trained physios for rehab and how the knee is going over the surgeon. They are there to cut and slice not make judgement on rehab. Lost 4 weeks of progress from the surgeon telling me to cut back on everything and all forms of rehab. Got a 2nd opinion from a very good physio who said the opposite and load up. Feel way better for it

What the fuck that sounds awful, did they not get you an MRI to see what's wrong with it?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, MRI and an xray.

And... but... but you have a problem!! What the fuck I'm so sorry man =/

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just have to keep reminding myself: it could be worse

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True! As someone also going through some shit, could sure be a lot fuckin' better too... But we carry on, if for no other reason than to aggressively stare the asshole universe down in rebellion.
